Aren’t we supposed to be better than them? Of are they who YOU aspire to emulate?
Actually I aspire to emulate Catholics who are devout and know their faith well enough to live it and explain it to others.🙂 I’d also like to emulate those who have their heads screwed on straight:shrug:

For that matter what is there to admire about Professional football?
you can make a lot of money if you wait for the sports books to make a mistake, and they will, because the lines are determined in part by casual betters and people betting with their heart.

and, of course, there’s Chris Berman’s immortal parody of John “the Voice of God” Facenda’s line about “the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field”.

How those guys in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota can play football when it is snowing like crazy is a mystery to me!🤷

I say GB lost an advantage when they moved into their indoor practice facility.

Seems that teams from the southern states have a great deal of problems if they have to play the Bears, Vikings, Packers, or Detroit on these teams’ home courts during really cold weather.🤷

Don’t forget about the fans who get to sit through those games. 🙂

the FATHERS run the university including the athletic department. the joke wouldn’t make sense in any other context. he was talking purely about football. I heard the interview. he slapped the Universities of Kentucky, Louisville and ND

reel in the rabbit ears.

***Q: Did you hear about the two Notre Dame fans who froze to death at the drive-in movie?
A: They went to see “Closed for the Winter.” ***

Hard to believe that such bigotry exists at such high levels of educational administration. Of course, it has been said that Catholics are the last group that it is socially acceptable to make fun of. Unbelievable.
As an OSU graduate, I’m disappointed but not all that surprised, by Gee’s comments. He’s an outstanding fund-raiser for the university, and he can be a pretty funny guy in a speech, but he also comes across to me in what I’ve observed and in the two brief personal interactions I’ve had with him as being very much a typical liberal academic.

My father, now retired, is a former college professor. He listened to Gee give a presentation at a conference once. Dad described him as “the dumbest smart man he’d ever met.”
Former Canadian PM Mike Pearson once referred to such types as “eggheads”. When asked to elaborate what he meant by that, he said, “Someone who is educated beyond his intelligence.” 👍

One thing I know about catholics is that they will find bias/discrimination under every rock. The man was talking of Notre Damn and how they negotiate, “Not” catholics in general. What I find the most offensive is all the attacks on his religion in this forum and it being accepted by most.

Quick to generalise and make accusations about Catholics now, are we? Sounds like somebody has a new statement about “those damn Catholics”.

Oh yes, why not try cursing terrorists as “those damn Muslims” and see if that defense helps you.

Notwithstanding the fact that this is a complete red herring and irrelevant to this thread, if you can find any attack on his religion in this thread, I invite you to do so.

But if you’re talking about other subforums on CAF, I put this simply to you: Is this not a website that is dedicated to upholding Catholic truth and shining a spotlight on the errors of other religions? Is it surprising that this forum is actually doing its job in defending Catholic truth? Catholic Answers Forum is a website that connects some of the most passionate and educated Catholic apologists from around the world, and somehow you’re surprised that the apologists are - surprise - being apologists?

The funny thing is, if you consider the criticisms here as the most offensive thing, what about all the threads all over the Mormon and Protestant forums labelling the Catholic Church as the Church of the anti-Christ? I suppose you would welcome them with glee and open arms? But God forbid that the Catholics criticise them, because that would be simply offensive!

It is precisely this kind of double standards you are espousing that my brothers and sisters on this forum have been complaining about. I hope you do realise this by now.

The man has a long history of saying stupid things. He should have been fired years ago, but money is our god.
