Ottawa Parish Group Promoting Gay Pride

By Patrick B. Craine

OTTAWA, Ontario, August 25, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The young adult group at a Catholic parish in Ottawa is promoting the city’s homosexual Pride parade this weekend.

The young adult faith community at St. Joseph’s Parish has advertised on their blog that the “Gay Catholics, Christians and Allies” group at the University of Ottawa is rallying supporters to march as a group at the Capital Pride march this Sunday, August 29.

The ad notes that the group “wants gay persons to be welcomed by the official Christian churches.”

The Catechism of the Catholic Church insists that homosexuals “must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity,” and condemns any form of “unjust discrimination” against them.

At the same time, the Catechism affirms the Church’s traditional teaching that homosexual inclinations are “objectively disordered” and homosexual acts are “acts of grave depravity.” “Under no circumstances can they be approved,” it states

Doctrinal document On the Collaboration of Men and Women in the Church and in the World, July 31, 2004

“In those situations where homosexual unions have been legally recognized or have been given the legal status and rights belonging to marriage, clear and emphatic opposition is a duty. **One must refrain from any kind of formal cooperation in the enactment or application of such gravely unjust laws and, as far as possible, from material cooperation on the level of their application. **In this area, everyone can exercise the right to conscientious objection.”

If this Catholic group is walking in support of non-celibate same sex attraction and same sex marriage then their activities are anti-Catholic and the priest and the bishop should be notified immediately.

No person should be “proud” of gender identity disorder or their sexual dysfunction.

Both disorders cry out for treatment; not celebration.

Believe it or not, there are much worse things happening at St. Joseph’s in Ottawa. Last I heard, there were talks ongoing between the parish and the bishop due to abuses such as invalid baptisms, use of leavened bread (not just wheaten, but also oils and honey’s also added), use of woven baskets for people to take communion out of (from what I heard, people came up and picked through the basket because some liked the leavened bread and some like the traditional hosts ), self-intinction, and a communal saying of “Amen” with everyone taking communion at the same time.

Like it is somewhere that you want to avoid at all costs.

The following is a letter I sent to Archbishop Predergast regarding St Joseph:

Dear Eminence exactly what measures will be taken to correct these misguided Catholics who obviously believe that Niceism supercedes the Gospel of Jesus Christ and our Church’s stance of loving the sinner and hating the sin?

I am one of the flock who is becoming more and more sceptical of the courage of his Shepherds especially when nothing is being done about apostate priests like Gravel. You want to fill the pews up?Give us Catholicism not watered down socialism,Niceism, and Kumbayaism.

There IS a hell and as Our Lady of Fatima said, millions are tumbling into it,or is Fatima, considered folklore these days? You are their Bishop.Correct them.Act.Save their souls lest you be complicit.Forget politics, forget the media, forget the approbation of liberal(protestant)Catholics.

Jesus was NOT a NICE guy.He offended and continues to offend many today out of love so that the Pharisees,Lawyers,Saducees,Pagans, and sinners could inherit Abba’s Kingdom. You are a direct successor of the Apostles, all of whom were martyred except for John.If you are martyred in the press-SO WHAT???Act like you’ve got a pair,Jesus certainly did.

Yours humbly.I kiss your ring,
Gordon Campbell

An email I sent to Archbishop Prendegast over the scandal that a Parish in his Diocese is fomenting.Sometimes I am ashamed to be a Catholic and believe me there are millions more like me.

This is NOT being disrespectful of Clerics.St Paul says I have a duty as a Catholic to admonish those who bring or allow scandal into the One True Church.Gordon Campbell

I wouldn’t. If this is in my area, I would join the parish, get involved, and hopefully steer them the right direction. But given that they probably have an invalid Mass and invalid Eucharist (I don’t know but I’m just guessing) I will go to another parish for my real Mass, and go to this parish to show that I mean business.

I knew before I read the article exactly which parish this was going to be. Nothing coming out of that parish surprises me anymore.
It’s staffed by the same people who have staffed my parish for the last 35 years. Rubrics? Don’t make me laugh! Feel good theology at it’s best. “We haven’t listened to Rome about that before and we’re not about to start now!”

There is no way a parish gets to this state overnight. Small, intentionally unnoticeable changes are incrementally introduced and eventually the parish is Catholic in name only.

I visited their website st-josephs.ca/pages/index_e.aspx are here are a few things I found:
  • a heavy reliance on ‘liturgical ministers’ and ‘pastoral assistants’ or whatever they’re called
  • the Oblates serve there
  • Liturgical dance
  • “Social Justice”
  • “mass” in small case M and “Euch. Ministers”
  • Confession offered Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday after the noon hour Mass. I guess if you have a job you’re expected to go somewhere else or just forget about the sins on your soul.
  • they have something similar to a homily called “Reflection”. April 11’s 7:30 University Mass (advertised as “informal”) Reflection was by Michelle Miller. It starts off with “Isn’t it wild…”. On May 2 Sister Anne Taylor’s Reflection references the Second Reading of that Sunday’s Mass. I can’t be certain but it seems “Reflection” is an euphemism for non-priest’s sermon.
  • “Father Richard” is retiring soon and Andre Boyer will replace him. The one picture I saw of Andre he was out of uniform (no collar) assuming he is a priest that is.
