My gosh… in three weeks time, he went from priest to bishop to cardinal. Pretty amazing!

I can’ t speculate about his papal prospects. Although I think it would be good to break outside of Europe, rather than from North America, I think it best to choose from the Global South… where most believers are, and where the fastest rate of believers is occurring.

Of course, the Holy Spirit has say, not me. Still, I wonder if it isn’t time for the Western cardinals to step aside.

That would be almost 3 years, not weeks.

Appointed Titular Archbishop on 3 March 2001.

Appointed Archbishop of Quebec on 15 November 2002.

Created Cardinal on 21 October 2003.

But yes, that is still a fast rise. I wish him well on his new duties.

i think it would be wonderful if a Pope would come from Canada or even the US. i know that Catholicism would have declined here if not for immigration but i think that event would revitalize Catholicism in North America

“It is now plausible that Archbishop Terrence Prendergast of Ottawa, who has been given important global assignments in recent years, may join Archbishop Collins in being admitted to the sacred college. After all, it was Archbishop Prendergast who was at Cardinal Ouellet’s side in June during the height of the abortion controversy”

“Important global assignments” include being on the committee for the new translation.

I approve of this 1576%.

Yes, that is over one thousand.
