Ouiji Board Question

I went to a catholic school and everyone would always say dont mess with ouiji boards so I was wondering if they actually worked and I was watching this video on them and it was saying that they dont actually work and are just subconsciously moving from the ideomotor effect so you’re moving it without knowing you are. It also said they were originally used as joke family games but then turned into ways to communicate with the devil from horror movies. So what’s going on then.
 
You’ll get different answers depending on whom you ask. I personally don’t believe in them, but I’ve never used one and don’t plan to anytime soon. Even if they don’t work, using them with the intent to summon demons is still a sin.

I have a relative who got involved in these and worse matters many years ago and they once told me that people have absolutely no idea what they are doing and what doors to evil they are opening, thinking they are in control when they frankly are not, and they indicated what they’d seen was so very frightening. So I say don’t mess with the occult.

part of it is just sub-conscious actions and there’s a “funny” video on youtube where they blindfold the people “playing” with a ouija board, and then flip the board around without them knowing.

lo and behold, their fingers couldn’t tell the difference, and they ended up spelling gibberish words or not even words at all. (since their brain was remembering the board placement before)

BUT the bad part is that the board “game” aspect of this is still pretending (as most people would call it) to call upon a spirit to guide them/their hands at the start of the so-called “game”.

we can’t know how bad it is, but it does absolutely invite bad things into your life. don’t act like it’s just a game, the nonchalant spirit calling is too weird and not friendly or harmless at all. Even skipping that part, I still wouldn’t want to see “what my subconscious” knows.

It is hocus pocus. Nothing to it. Cardboard and plastic. The problem is when someone believes in it. If a spirit wants to contact someone, they don’t need to go through a board game to do so.

I have known people who believe 100 percent in the ability to reach spirits through the use of an Ouiji board, but that is because they really want to believe in it. Therein lies the issue.
 
Yes, how about that relationship between our own subconscious and the spiritual realm? I think Ouija Boards enable our subconscious to express itself, but there may be fragments of ourselves that are not so benign.

Anyway, I have never heard of any crimes solved with its help. That would be something to explain.
 
Using occult stuff creates a risk of opening portals that you don’t want open. There’s a school of thought that for a devout Catholic, the risk may be greater because they’re involved in spiritual warfare, so the enemy forces will attack them harder and they may be more sensitive to the attacks.

Decades ago we had a Ouija board for a joke party game (gifted us by some relative I think) and me and my dad messed with it for a while, but my mom got nervous about it being spiritually dangerous, and it went into the attic permanently. I will say that the few times I tried it with Dad, with friends or alone, it got boring in about 5 minutes because nothing happened. It never moved or spelled out anything.
 
People move the cursor themselves, but it’s immoral to try to summon the dead to speak or play games in which that’s the intent. We shouldn’t open ourselves up to such things.
 
Ouji Boards are dumb and use the ideomotor effect, but they are bad for two reasons.
  1. To communicate with spirits, which is always bad because Heaven is the sole source of good.
  2. To make yourself feel special or powerful. Sometimes people get a rush out of dabbling with the occult and it’s basically just an ego rush.

Agree! @Wesrock ! Dont ever dabble with the occult.
This is serious and should never be tried.

I expect that at least 99.9% of the time, anything you get from an Ouija board is just the ideomotor effect. But I can’t rule out the possibility that there may be the rare case of actual contact with spirits, which is forbidden.

Even if the Ouija board is the ideomotor effect 100% of the time, and I would not be surprised if it was always the ideomotor effect, the point of it is to try to communicate with something, which is a no-no. The simple question to ask is: “If this is successful, what happens?” If the answer is something you are not supposed to do, then don’t do it.

The occult, by definition, is anything supernatural that does not come from God. So avoid it always.
 
It really doesn’t matter whether they work or not, it is completely forbidden. A piece of rotten fruit from a forbidden tree that can only lead to suffering and regret. Not fussing at you, just don’t bother with it.

They move on their own, I’ve witnessed it myself. They are not a joke or a game, I have several stories about them, they (doorway to demonic) cause great harm to people involved
 
How do you know unless you have played with one? Have you ever played one?

I used one in college with some friends. In fact we used it at a guys house, that was considered to be haunted. It absolutely seemed to work and I remember feeling very scared, and that there was a presence in the room with us. I ended up sleeping on the floor of a friend’s house because I was too afraid to go home (even though I rented a room in a house with an older couple).
I was not Catholic then, but I was curious. I do not recommend using one!
