Why would one put more stock in private revelation than the Church does?
Devotion to Our Lady of Fatima is not putting “more stock in private revelation than the Church does”. The Church has deemed the Apparitions at Fatima “worthy of belief”. This isn’t easily accomplished. There are only a handful of apparitions which have received this approval. Most “apparitions” are approached by the Church with great caution.

But, our late Holy Father, John Paul II fully credited Our Lady of Fatima with saving his life, during the assasination attempt. A few years later, he visited the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima… and the statues crown now holds the bullet which nearly killed him.

It would seem to me… that the Church holds great “stock” in Our Lady, under the title of Fatima. And rightly so. God bless.

Worthy of belief and approval means it is ‘safe’ to believe in if one choses to, that there is nothing contrary to the faith contained in it.

Agree. And since the Vicar of Christ had such love of Our Lady of Fatima… I would say it’s a pretty “safe” devotion.

“For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible”.

**I agree as well.

Though, we as a people(The Roman Catholic church) must pray that the word “Russia” is mentioned in the next consecration.**

It would be great if ‘approval’ protected us from things like this:

The Sister Lucia of Fatima Who Died Recently was not the Real Sister Lucia: Compelling Evidence!
I do not find it strange that you have choosen this link to bring to this thead, I would not be supprised if it is bookmarked on your computer either.

Once again, well done, EM.🤷

Next thing I expect is a thread by you asking if Mary was really the Mother of God, or some other such nonsense. The poster who suggested you have a problem with being jealous of Mary could have hit on something, Your are bent on mimimalizing everything Marian.

.

Hi MrS

I was on an Amazon Christianity forum where that particular subject came up…Mary being the Mother of God? I was called all kinds of names trying to defend my spiritual Mother “Mary”. No matter what I posted to convince those people on the Amazon Chrisitianity forum that Mary is truly the Mother of God, they called me more and more names and said some very hurtful things about the Virgin Mary. I was really hurt by their name calling.

I understand how that can be both frustrating, and hurtful. It is worse when the same attempts to minimalize are found on a Catholic site, and posted by someone who claims to be Catholic. The “frustration level” of many posters has been tested lately.😦

Why would someone claim to know more about the requirements of the vision than Sr. Lucia?

The challenge of the message of Fatima is to live the Gospels.

When people started going down other roads, I am afraid that they just end up making Catholicism look silly, along with devotion to the Blessed Mother.

You don’t get it do you?

Someone who could get caught up in all the conspiracy theories around Fatima and the 3rd message would find that site as easily as I did and may fall for it.

Now your additional accusations are uncalled.
I never seen that website before, matter of fact as soon as I read that the Pope is the devil…I exited out of the website as fast as you can say the word Peace.

Who are you referring to?

This article seems to be suggesting… that because Sr. Lucia in her 90’s… didn’t resemble Sr. Lucia in her 20’s, 30’s and 40’s… the 90 year old Sr. Lucia MUST therefore be a fraud? Ok, now I’ve heard everything.

First of all… in regards to the teeth. I have one word. DENTURES. From the old photo’s… it is clearly evident that Sr. Lucia had a very, very bad overbite… and misaligned teeth. This situation, if left unchecked for years… can cause the loss of natural teeth. I’m sure that her community thought enough of her, to make sure that she received basic dental care, including dentures… when needed.

I am caregiver to my elderly 86 year old mother… and I can ASSURE anyone who has looked at the link provided… that a woman of 86 (or 90) does NOT resemble the woman she was in her youth. My mother was a very beautiful woman, in her youth. She is now hunched with age. Her hands are gnarled, from arthritis. She is losing some of her teeth (from a similar overbite). Her nose and ears have become very large. Her chin, pointed. Her head seems out of proportion to the rest of her body. Her facial skin sags, and has changed the appearance of her eyes; and when compared with a photo of her youth… she barely resembles the lovely woman she was at that time. Except in her soul, which remains as lovely as ever.

The link provided as “evidence” of fraud, concerning Sr. Lucia is absurd. It’s hogwash.

That comment is addressed to anyone that thinks that they know more about the consecration than Sr. Lucia, to anyone who places personal revelation about public revelation, and to those who would place their judgement about personal revelations above those of the shepherds of the Church.

I clicked on your links MrS & am appalled. This board WAS a place where one could find knowledgeable Catholics who argued their faith with dignity. Yes, I do know that since our faith is so important to us, our tempers can & have flared occasionally…but using sites like these to “prove” a point??

not my links… ! ! ! ! !

I was appalled also… in fact, I *** one of the links to avoid the language.

Thus you can understand why I, and a number of others, are convinced that if one has to offer those kinds of evidence or reference, for ANY reason, it is over the edge. There was no effort to disclaim or explain.

They truly are “special”
