So I’ll try again - You said the Republicans started all the wars. Who started the Gulf war?

Ishii
Saddam Hussein, and Bush41 gathered a broad coalition of support under the UN banner. I only know because I was there.

You’re splitting hairs. Would you be happier to phrase it that Bush1 decided to enter the Iraq-Iran war?

My point remains – It’s pretty strange to think it’s a “pro-life” vote to support the war party. There are hundreds of thousand of dead Iraqis who would argue that definition of pro-life, and a dead archbishop in El Salvador too.
I’m not splitting hairs. Saddham Hussein invaded Kuwait and a coalition of nations led by the US kicked him out of Kuwait. No Iraqi invasion of Kuwait - No Gulf war. Who do you think started WW2, the US?

Ishii

Only reading the poll as it stands, not how you feel I “need to read it”. 🙂

Just because you want Conservatives to be excited about the candidate doesn’t make it reality.

I don’t believe that “he’s not Obama” is going to be enough to win it for the GOP.
Perhaps that is your wishful thinking. I disagree. In any event, we will find out this November.

Ishii

Saddam Hussein. I already said that. 🙂
Thank you. I just wanted to clarify. That would seem to contradict what Jerry Miah said about the Republicans starting the Gulf war:
Code:
two separate wars in Iraq, there is a strong moral argument to keep the Republican war party out of the White House. They look for and find any excuse** to start a war** that they can, regardless of the consequences.
Jerry miah, care to retract?

Ishii

Wow… 76 votes for Santorum, and he has absolutely NO chance of of winning the GOP nomination.

And Obama is leading Romney!!!

Let’s see how it shapes up next week. Very interesting…

Not that suprising - Santorum the catholic getting lots of support on a catholic site in an unscientific poll. Sad that Obama has so many votes. I would expect most of the votes for Santorum to go to Romney once Santorum gives up - hopefully soon.

So I choose not to vote for the War Party, for example.
The Democrats are historically the party of war. I know you only want to look at the past decade, but that is so narrow as to be useless, unless you are making a speech to like-minded people. Pretty much everyone here is smart enough, and old enough, not to accept that silly, inaccurate label.

Ron Paul.

More realistically, though, Santorum’s got my vote.

It looks like Obama is NOT getting about 63% of the votes. I find that the beginning of fantastic.

And according to this poll, Romney is NOT getting over 80% of the vote. Definitely NOT fantastic for him but good for Obama.

<> I only wanted Santorum because the future debates would have been fun to watch. They will be less interesting now with Obama and Romney.

I would love to see a Pro-life Liberal Democrat but alas. . . . .

Heck, I believe that Obama’s decisions show him as more of a centrist than a liberal, despite the “secular-leftist, socialist” canard. I am certainly more liberal than he regarding the role of Government and taxation. 🤷
I agree–he governs more like a centrist hodge-podge than a leftist. The right loves to call him a leftist, but I just can’t take that seriously. Over the next ten years, the Federal government is going to go through austerity measures based on agreements that Obama signed off on. Also, his health care plan is not leftist at all, but very similar to the one Romney put through in Massachusetts and other GOP members of Congress put forth in the 90s. His stimulus plan was around $700-800B; on a $14-15 trillion economy, that is almost nothing. And the recent JOBS Act that he supported gives some great leeway to Wall Street. He ordered a troop surge in Afghanistan. Someone please explain to me how this is leftist?

I agree, though, that there are some leftist streaks in his administration—someone like Bill Clinton would have never mandated Catholic organizations purchase health plans that cover contraception. Overall, though, I don’t think he is a leftist. I haven’t seen the radical transformation of society. I haven’t seen in statistics a surge in abortion. We have had a conservative majority on the Supreme Court for several years now. Five out of nine justices have been appointed by Republican presidents and until two years ago, seven out of the nine justices were appointed by GOP presidents. After all that, Roe v. Wade is still here.

I’m not saying I support Obama and the Democrats; however, I am just not seeing how voting GOP is going to end abortion or promote life in any significant way. But, I’m open and willing to be convinced.

Ron paul!!!
Ron Paul’s foreign policy is to the left of Barack Obama and the editorial page of the New York Times. Indeed, Mr. Paul’s foreign policy is probably too liberal for most Democratic voters.

The Democrats have historically been in power, though, during some very trying times (such as WWI and WWII). Both parties, including the current commander-in-chief, have shown that they use military force to protect interests of the U.S. No American president wants to preside over a period of American decline.

You are responding to Atlas Shrugged 101 rantings inspired by the philosophy of Ayn Rand. What else do you expect? I keep telling people it’s infiltrated the conservative movement, but all the good Christians on this site seem to want to ignore it.

Scary if you ask me.
I don’t understand why conservative Christians like Ayn Rand a lot. Her philosophy represented everything we’re supposed to be against
