I meant to vote other. All of the candidates are awful imho. Still a few more years til I can run . 😃

Thanks for your comments. I agree with your analysis. The only point that I would make is that ultimately, the European governments that don’t scale back their spending will be forced to when they run out of money.
I think this is what, to some extent, has prevented us from completely going over the deep-end up to this point. It will come to a head as more baby boomers retire–the writing is already on the wall. We just can’t sustain a ponzi-scheme like Social Security over the long haul. Frankly, at my age, I would prefer to have use of that money now to save for retirement, save for my kids’ school tuition, etc. I’m sure I can get a better rate of return than the civil servants in Washington can get me.
At some point the party financed with others’ money will have to end.

No matter how much some Republicans try to reform our entitlements and curb spending, the Democrats will cry ā€œnot fair!ā€ and demagogue the issue. I remember the successful ā€œmediscareā€ tactics the Democrats used against the GOP in the 90’s.
That has always been a common tactic of the left. The GOP wants to slow the GROWTH in spending INCREASES of X (fill in the blank) program??? Draconian cuts!!! Kids will be sleeping on grates (remember Daniel Patrick Moynihan during the welfare reform debate), old people will be eating cat food, every child will be illiterate…blah blah blah blah blah.

Read about the Romney ad against Santorum - ’ we defetead him in 2006 , why would we want him as Pres ’ !

What an easy answer -’ Because we have seen the bad tree bearing bad fruit , in Massachusetts and we are to stay away from wolves - whether masked or howling loud '!

And God willing , many would turn to The Stone , to take in His values of the Kingdom , that all else may be added too and not get fooled again by deceptive false promises from those whose heritage is such !

However, we haven’t forcefully overthrown our own government over the issue of abortion, which is the world’s most grave atrocity. So where do we get off expecting anyone else to overthrow their government for far less?

At least in the Civil War we threw down for real over something, although States rights and slavery pale compared to abortion as well.

I’d expect more from tribesman if we violently, or non-violently took over our own country for better. But we can’t even do that.

I was surprised too, until I looked at who voted. A handful of the usual suspects who always vote for the wrong candidate, and the rest are no-name lurkers who never actually post anything.

That list is a who’s who of ā€œwho???ā€
 
What has been puzzling and seemingly even foolish on part of Romney from his Gov . days is his blatant support for gay marriage , when such abomination was not yet on the radar , for many even liberals AFIK !

Trying to understand this part of him might give more clue as to who he is too !

True , he wanted the job as stepping stone to Pres ; yet why risk alienating conservatives and his own values , if that is what he has !

Could there be far more powerful motivators , such as money from the homosexual lobby that they had extracted by ruthlessly calumniating and attacking The Church , possibly with support of the then Gov …money that he now spends in vicious , false attacks on the ( catholic ) candidates !

Could there be also the motive , to get the nation desensitised and confused so that the shame of Mormonism and its practice of polygamy that has been only suspended , can be pushed through … even to attack the very Church again , just as the rogue Romney care is what has led to the present situation of The Church being forced by powers , to destroy Her role of leading Her children, in ways of holiness !

Too bad that the media spent so much time nitpicking every inconsequential word and remark of Santorum and wasted precious resources , in looking deeper into these issues which is what to trouble any one who cares about the person who is to lead !

Hey, can we change the poll since Senator Santorum just dropped out? I’d like to see the # of people who switch their support to Gingrich, Paul, Romney, or none of the above.

I can’t find the article to quote it, but Archbishop Chaput said something similar. While we don’t agree with many theological beliefs of Mormons, to attack particular peculiarities would be no different than someone attacking our beliefs regarding the Blessed Virgin Mary.

We should support a candidate based on our shared values, not on their particular religion. To do otherwise is a form of bigotry.

Hope that explains the wording on the 'shame part ’ in Mormonism too , a sect that was started by Christians ; all this as part of attempts to reconcile such seeming contradictions in the actions of persons , inorder to understand better what motivates them !

As one that was not allowed any say in the nomination, I will reject the solidarity argument. That should only apply to those who were allowed to nominate him.

I am hoping that there will be someone third party running that is more in line with Catholic teaching that I can vote for with a better conscience.
