Our pets will rise from the dead and testify against us

Animals were never cast out of paradise. Only human were. We need respect all of God’s creation. How we treat animals says much about who we are. The Jewish dietary laws are based, at least in part, on the humane treatment of animals used for food.

“All things bright and beautiful; all creatures great and small; all things wise and wonderful; the Lord God made them all…”

We were given dominion over all the Earth. Humane treatment of God’s creatures is part of our stewardship.

Our parakeets (past and present) will probably testify for us, but I’m not sure about the cockatiel: he detests my mother’s parakeet since the little widget likes to land on his cage and scare the bejeebers out of him. And bite his tail feathers if he can reach them.

Well all I can tell you is my pets owe me big time, all the poop I have picked up over the many years, I ought to get a pat on the head in heaven for that!

and they are not tempted to think they are God, as we are (except cats).
My cat doesn’t just think she is God; she KNOWS she is God. Such is my life, that I know better than to correct her…She would just :rolleyes:hiss & spit at me.

Reminds me of a story I heard about a cockatoo. A journalist (I think it was Ron Saw) wrote that when they were still kids, his brother used to torment the cockatoo by throwing grass clippings at it in it’s cage.

One day it got out, and the brother just happened to be bending over in the backyard. The cockatoo flew up to him, gave him a really savage bite on the backside, and then flew away.

It might have been humorous, but it served him right in my opinion. I’ve got no doubt we’ll be judged on how we treated animals, as well as people.

I can hear it now.

“Hungry, Hummer, Koshka, Muffin, Ollie, Gemma, Zazu, and Fiona, what do you have to say about DaveBj?”

“Meowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeowmeow…”
