Rome, Jun. 9, 2008 (CWNews.com) - Two Italian Carmelite nuns chained themselves to a lamp post just outside St. Peter’s Square on June 9, capitalizing on interest in the Pope’s regular Sunday audience to dramatize their own dispute with their superior.
The two nuns were expelled from their convent in central Italy in 2005, after decades in the religious community. They say that they originally left the cloister for reasons of health, but when they returned they were refused admission.
cwnews.com/news/viewstory.cfm?recnum=58970Vatican officials said that they were arranging a meeting for the nuns with an official of the Congregation for Religious. Bishop Franceso Brugnaro of Camerino-San Severino Marche, where the convent is located, was expected to issue a public statement as well.
I don’t know much about this situation but I do pray that God’s will is done.
