OUT OF WORK with few opportunities and no direction

There are too many coincidences to doubt that this is endeavour is the work of God.

Unfortunately, today when I called the lady spearheading the “Community Connections Centre” she answered by saying “I’m being driven to the hospital”.
When she woke up this morning she felt incredibly tired and exhausted. She discovered that she was having memory problems. (Later I she was telling me about a friend/board member but could not come up with the name. 😦 )
Her son tells me that she is being kept in hospital for testing and (especially) for rest.

My wife and I certainly some money to pay the bills, but my new friend Beverly needs prayers for her health. So much is depending on her.
Please say a prayer this weekend for Bev.

Things are really taking off. This just might be where God wants me at this point in my life. If all goes well this could turn into something important for the Kingdom of God.

In addition to cleaning, I’m the maintenance guy. I’ll be responsible for contacting professionals and getting quotes for jobs that are beyond my (admittedly limited) ability. I’m also their technical person, helping with phones, computers, etc. Not to mention helping with administration, mostly the computer and research side.

Today I had my first taste of social work. A fellow was told to come in and see me. (I was given the ‘heads up’ last night.) He has suffered from chronic depression since the age of 14 (he’s now 59) and has tried to kill himself three times. I’m not trained, but I have experience in simply being a friend in different situations. It seems that I’m called to do this some more.

I’ve met my first openly homosexual person. He is a PhD student who will likely be needing my research skills for his thesis. It has to do with homosexuals ‘coming out of the closet’. This could pose a huge problem for me!!!

Be professional, and don’t let your personal feelings get in the way of doing a good job. Remember, the democratic way of life and freedom of speech depend on all of us as we help others express themselves, even (and especially) when we disagree with them. Of course, you will also help him create a balanced argument that takes into account opposing points of view … 😉

Wow.
I finally found the time to come and visit Catholic Answers.

Firstly, let me let you know that Beverly’s problem turned out to be exhaustion.

Secondly, this is SO different. After being an unemployed bum for so many months, my system is having trouble adjusting to getting up and going to a really interesting and worthwhile job. WHAT A PROBLEM TO HAVE, EH?!!!:extrahappy:

Thirdly, I really need to offer up prayers of thanksgiving for all of this. Since we had no funding it was arranged for government funding so that I could get some pay. (Shhh! Don’t tell anyone. The good fellow bent a few rules just to help us out. 🙂 )

I don’t recall if I remembered to mention this but the very basis of “The Grenville Centre for Social Studies” (GSCC) and “The Community Connections Centre” (CCC) is prayer. We have a prayer group dedicated to praying for us and anyone whose name we pass along to them. They have a formal meeting once a week while also praying in private but as a group.

In thanksgiving for this new job and in thanksgiving for all those here that have been praying for me I here and now offer up tomorrow’s labour, both the good and the bad, as a prayer to you O Lord!
I also offer my labour to you as a prayer for everyone struggling to find or even keep a job.
In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.
