Is anyone else really just angered by these? I’m reading about the birth control movement and sexual liberation movements of the early 20th Century in my American history class, and it makes my blood boil. Does anyone else feel this way when the topic is brought up? Or is it just me?

raises hand

The sexual liberation movement is probably the single most damaging cultural movement in history; at least in terms of the numbers of people killed and souls lost.

The sexual revolution in the 60’s plus no-fault divorce destroyed marriage, the very foundation of a healthy society

Through no fault of their own, I might add. Society lies to young women and makes them objects. Ironically, the new feminism proclaims that the answer to this is more sex and more contraception rather than less.

The answer to ‘all sex is bad’ is not ‘all sex is good’ unfortunately, lol.

Not going to lie, it’s something that I feel we could have expected if we live in the time right before this broke out.

Nope I’m not angered by it at all, moping around like a grumpy old man complaining about everything thats wrong in the world is not going to help anything

What exactly do mean by power? Do you mean that they use their God given sense to go to college or business school, nursing school etc and then go out into the work force. How is that going against God? What purpose Did God have for us? We have children, we raise them and still work. Is that against God/ My husband died almost 2 years ago…I work and am a mother to my 2 daughters…We live in a different world. but we still can manage… My children will always come first in my life…as did my husband, so 'unless you walk in someone elses shoes…you cannot judge…

He isn’t saying anything about women having jobs or being homemakers, and he’s not saying that this applies to all women.

He’s talking about the rampant over-sexualization of women, and the widespread cultural belief that sex is merely for fun. It has made it incredibly easy for licentious men to sleep with any number of women without any strings attached. In the past, that sort of sexual license generally only came through the use of prostitutes.

I personally am angered that if I grow up to have daughters, they’ll be seen the same way I used to look at women. Society will try to pressure them to do extremely immoral things.

Anna, you seem to be missing the point of this topic. None of what you’ve said is the result of sexual liberation or birth control, which are the specific cultural developments we’re talking about… Feminism is not tied into contraceptives or sexual license…

Its well prepared lie- telling people that now they will be free in sexual matters. Its like original sin- God said that they would die if they ate the fruit. The serpentine lied that they wouldnt.
So people must state what gives real sexual freedom for them- by following God’s rules or the lie?

I may sound harsh but the truth is that sexual liberation transformed many women in unpaid whores.
Rather…transformed men and women into moral weaklings who doubt/deny their obligation, dignity and ability to achieve self-mastery.

But don’t you see? There’s no such thing as whores or the weak men who visit them, when you have freedom to love and spread the love around to as many people as possible. This is not something that should bring shame. Why would we want to restrict love to such a small box that marriage to one partner for your entire life would be? It’s marriage that stifles our ability to love whomever and whenever. (This is sarcasm, of course. 😉)

That may be true but the pressure wont be bigger than the pressure Roman culture put on the first generations of christians. Pressure creates saints

You are putting the majority of women in that catagory and that my friend does not apply. Again what about men who slept around does I am not saying all men but since you all want to generalize women from the 60’s and 70’s what ABOUT MEN FROM THAT GENERATION Why don’t you all admit that your intimated by women.instead you call them names I won’t say let alone type…Stop labeling women

When lost sheep called ’ many women unpaid whores ’ I didn’t miss any point

I am not saying that this is the majority of women, nor am I trying to say the men who sleep with those women aren’t awful. I am speaking, specifically, about the women who have been suckered in by cultural movement of the sexual revolution. Stop applying a very focused conversation to women in general, that is not my intent, and it’s causing you to completely misinterpret my posts.

Immoral sexual behavior has historically always been more present in men. That’s not to give them a pass, it’s still terrible, but that is the truth of it. Before the sexual revolution, this behavior was most severely hampered by the fact that almost all women wouldn’t have sex before marriage.

After the sexual rebellion of the 60’s, it became more common for women to have casual sex. Their collective behavior saw the greatest change from before to after.

You seem to think we are attacking these women. We are not. We see women and their children as the greatest victims of sexual license.

Many women do choose to sleep around. They provide a sexual service to many men. That’s the same thing a whore does, and these women have greatly usurped the role that prostitutes previously played in society… I’m sorry, that’s just a fact.

Your mistake is that you think he’s applying the moniker to all, or even most, women. He said many. This is a technically accurate, albeit unpleasant, statement.

I’m sorry, but I have to disagree. I fell into the trap of masturbation at a young age due to the culture that told me it was okay. It’s been 5 years and I’m still recovering. The lenient Catholic culture that has been formed recently, along with a culture where immoral sex is glorified, leads to immorality and failure. People are being lied to and that makes me incredibly angry.

And where were the men and do you have a similiar name for them and yourself.
Anna, you’re right on this point. Historically, if there was going to be a harsh term for women who slept with men outside marriage for money then there should have been a word that is just as harsh for men as well. Christianity teaches that it’s a mortal sin for both men and women. Whore does seem to make a value judgement on particular women at the level of their worth as a human being that words like cad or womanizer does not.

However, you are veering off-topic by bringing in women’s education and careers which no one here is saying should be off limits to women.
