Prostitute would have been a less inflammatory word to use.

Whore has strong pejorative connotations - prostitute is more objective.

With regards to social and sexual morality, America has become similarly depraved to ancient Greece and Rome.

If America continues down the path we’re on, God WILL judge us, and it WON’T be pretty.
 
We’ve talked a lot about fornication, but does anyone get angry at the prevalence of contraception?
 
I get angry when people try to force Catholic institutions to pay for them. And when people act like women will not survive without them.
 
I do! It causes people to misuse the gift of sex for their own pleasure rather than to create life. And yes, post-menopausal women have sex, but that’s different. They are still open to life. Weren’t Sarah and Elisabeth post-menopausal 🤨?

I don’t think it’s a good idea to tease her back. Judging from her posting history, she does not seem to be a troll. In fact, her posts on this thread are completely unlike her previous ones.

There’s some wisdom here. Part of the problem with sexual ethics before the Sexual Revolution was it was unevenly applied. Women were expected to be chaste. Men were officially expected to be chaste, but their misbehavior was winked at. The problem was, instead of encouraging men to be chaste like women, we encouraged women to be as crude as men. We corrected in the wrong direction.

But I think we also need to be careful not to over-romanticize the times before the Sexual Revolution. Premarital sex didn’t begin in the 1960s. People were having sex outside of marriage since the time they were living in caves. It just was more underground.

We also need to be careful in using loaded words like “whore”. People are human, with all the hormones and weak wills that implies. People mess up and don’t live up to their ideals. It happens. I’m not saying we still can’t believe in the ideal, but temper it with some mercy and understanding.
 
This is my last post concerning this subject… I would never have responded if ’ lost sheep ’ didn’t say " sexual liberation transformed many women into unpaid whores " I was insulted by that remark, I don’t believe he should have applied it to women of that generation… My belief. We all know that the term Womens Liberation, came out at the same time…My mother and Aunts are from that generation, I talked to them about it… The truth is that when women entered the work force alot of not so nice words were thrown at them.for men believed that they were taking jobs from them… There are some areas of womens lib I don’t like, but I will stand by the women of that era who chose ,…Society was not ready for something different, that’s why all the noise. As far as sexual revolution do not just pin everything on women and call them ‘whores’ men are as much to blame, and should answer for their behavior as well I know alot of you and I do not want to go back and forth because we have different opinions . If I hurt anyone’s feelings I’m sorry.🦋🦋 i.e. My mother happen to see lost sheep’s wording for she was looking over my shoulder. I wish you could have seen the hurt
