Since you are a lawyer, isn’t it generally accepted that if you help in a murder, you are just as guilty as the person who pulled the trigger?
The Soviet intercepts do not show that she was involved in the espionage.
Many people believe that Ethel was the brains of the conspiracy and Julius was a weak follower.
That’s wrong. Current research, including that of the Venona transcripts, refute that notion.
Regardless, both were guilty and the law provided for death.
The law they were prosecuted under was for espionage for an enemy during time of war. We were not at war with the Soviet Union at any time.

Roy Cohn was the man who pushed for the death penalty. And, based on the facts, she was not guilty of espionage, though er husband was.
As far as the Jewish angle goes, if I remember correctly, the judge, prosecuter, defense attorney, and defendants were all Jewish.
And bent over backwards to prosecute the couple harshly to show that they were “good Jews,” not like the Rosenbergs.
Seems kind of hard to blame anti-semitism.
Not if you read the newspapers of the times.
Their co-defendant (Gold?, Sobel?) was also Jewish, but not sentenced to death. Wonder why he was spared?
Yes, one wonders why the wife was condemned, while a co-actor wasn’t.

I have no doubt you believe that – but remember, it’s your imagination talking, not verified fact.
Up to my statement about Jesus Christ, it’s fact. But, given the status of Pope Pius XII at that time, refusing him the lives of those two is akin to refusing Christ IMO.
Actually, he had a good point – the Communists wouldn’t have been so aggressvie had they not had the secret of the atomic bomb.
Questionable, but I concede that it’s valid as his personal opinion - one of a man who was not involved in any phase of Intelligence or Inteliigence Analysis.

And up to the point where he said the girl consented, the rapist told the truth.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon12.gif

Do you know anything to refute the proposition that a nuclear-armed communist block was not emboldened to be more aggressive?

bravo to this woman! I have tears in my eyes…and thank YOU Gilliam, for posting this. (and all the others you post)

Not to mention that, while there may have been terrorists that did like the idea of a caliphate, Saddam Hussein didn’t want a caliphate in America
Saddam is aggressive as wars with Kuwait and Iran have shown. He doesn’t appear to **you **not wanting a caliphate in America because his power hasn’t reached the level of direct military attacks on US home soil. he did attack through terrorists, undermining US freedom through shameless propagandas. etc. for me It’s enough to show he did want a caliphate in America.

MikeWM:
he didn’t even want or have a caliphate in Iraq
If it’s not like a “caliphate”, It must be because he has terrible Islam faith. sorry if this breaks forum rules.

MikeWM:
Living in a state of constant fear isn’t for me, thanks.
Living in a state of constant fear isn’t for people under Saddam’s rule either. now they can stop fearing being dragged to a torture chamber and have all sorts of dark age torture applied to them.

MikeWM:
And, incidentally, nice to see you again 🙂

Mike
Too bad, you’re not going to see him posting again. But you don’t need to be too sad, he’ll be always with you under some other names, but not “Richardols”.

Very well said. Unfortunately the situation here in Britain is the same, and possibly even worse with the new Terrorism Bill just starting its way through Parliament. Remind me again - didn’t the terrorists want to change our way of life? Looks like they are doing a good job

Mike
How the bills affects your life? I believe unless you’re a terrorist, it won’t have much effect.

I know this is off topic but I can’t help it.

It sure didn’t take Richardols to get himself suspended again did it?

Fine, but you’re wrong.

I doubt it breaks rules but I think you ought to learn more about the different things various bits of Islam want. Not everyone wants a caliphate.

Indeed, very good.

Out of interest, do you think ‘too bad’ is a reasonable Catholic attitude to have?

Look up what happened to Walter Wolfgang a few weeks ago.

Then get out of wishful thinking and prove it!

That’s irrelevent. The problem is he wants to have US under his rule.

Too bad for you. Not for me. For you, you lost an ally. For me Richardols is suspended for the good of the forum.

I’m too lazy to search for it. You post the link here as you bring it out first.

Silly me. I didn’t realise we were having a war.

who’s the “war crowd” now? 😉
I only see there’s a discussion between two sides going on here.

I’m somewhat exasperated. Richardols has been suspended several times now. I look back on this thread and I don’t get it–he hasn’t made any personal attacks, he hasn’t given out personal information, and he didn’t use any bad words! To my memory, he didn’t do anything wrong the first time he was suspended. Why is he suspended?

Waht I find most suprising is how many people actaully BELIEVE this story.

It’s a story that has only appeared in one “publication” closely attached to the American Military and blowing the American Military trumpet. O and it’s a blog, very confidance building they are, always truthful I’m told!!!

Never heard of PROPOGANDA (even when it’s this obvious)?
