Educating children is the secondary issue…the safety of children and community is primary.

School districts must get a plan together to provide a solution to education instead of allowing this to be turned into a schools and/or teachers vs parents battle…the schools are not designed to be a day care center to allow parents to go to work, nor are teachers to act as parents in exercising parental responsibilities.
 
No, schools have a requirement to adequately educate our children. That’s the largest component of my local taxes. If they cannot, they can give the money back, or forgo their salaries like everyone else who cannot do their job during the pandemic.

As I am not a fan of public education, I’d willingly forgo those taxes in favor of not being able to use the schools.
 
Several things are happening here.
4% of the students contacted Covid19 since the beginning of the school year.
There have been no hospitalizations or deaths (they’re all quarantining at home).

How does this compare to the percentage of kids absent from school for all other causes?

How does this compare with average absentee rates for all causes during the month of August for every year?
 
I looked at my kindergarten report card and I was absent 28 days that entire year.That was back in 1957 when we rarely went to the dr.s and we stayed home from school until well ,croup,pink eye,flu ,measles,chicken pox,we had it all then…

Guessing this is a reference to some kids learning that there are kids that are raised by to women, two men, or something other than a strict male-female pairing ( ? ). Such families do exists though.
 
The gender fluidity issue and teaching o ur middle schoolers about oral anal sex,that’s a very grave concern.

At risk kids are the ones who suffer the most by far by missing school. No great loss, I guess, since progressive run inner city schools have Done a great job of keeping them at risk anyway. Too bad, so sad. Right?
Schools all over the world are open. But let’s avoid the science and evidence if it We don’t close them for the flu, far deadlier for children. We don’t stop teens from driving, even though accidental death is by far the greatest cause of death for that age group.
I don’t see the left calling for a 21 year old driving age, or closing schools for the flu.
Shutting kids off from is doing profound damage. But I guess, too bad so sad.

If you’ll notice, I never said we should or should not shut down schools.

I strictly asked for comparisons.

YOU brought in the Arizona case.

Sex ed wildly varies from one school district to another. I’ve known adults that did not realize that oral and anal sex can result in STD transmission. They have engaged in that thinking that it was safe sex; free from consequences. It wasn’t until I told them that the entrance and exit to their digestive tracks can be infected that they realized that they were not engaging in a zero risk activity.

I can’t know if they would have engaged in that risk if they knew about it. But I don’t think that I was encouraging them to do it by telling them about the risks.

I think some adults need a sex ed class. I could quote some things said during political discussions on birth control that suggest that some of our representatives could learn a few foundational things.
 
Regardless,It’s not up to the schools to instruct our kids or grandkids on such matters.Particularily re the gender fluidity to kindergartners who see the world in a very fixed way at that age.This is abusive to indoctrinate them.In Ca the parents don’t even have the choice of opting out!

I guess that is a matter for the respective communities. Parents that find themselves in disagreement with the community decision usually have the option of their child being excluded. Parents sometimes also have preview access to the information too.
 
Don’t know about that. Those lectures on quantum physics from Cambridge often keep me up at night.
 
All these posts and no one has suggested abolishing federal (name removed by moderator)ut on education?
