You might also be tortured horribly and then martyred.
And then afterwards you will have incomprehensible happiness and joy in heaven for given up your earthly life. That my friend still sounds like fun to me šŸ‘

Churches around here, on the other hand, are full of single Catholic women who can’t find any practicing men. šŸ™‚
Ugh, this. Even though I’ve just come back to the Church after a number of years away, this was the case in the churches I’ve attended over the years. I’ve come across very, very few single men who attend church who are around my age, or who are serious about their faith. And even most of my close friends are married or in long term relationships and they have very few single friends. I feel like its a bad episode of the Twilight Zone.

On the other hand, I haven’t completely given up hope. Most days. 🤷

Most definitely! Martyrs have a special place in the Beatific Vision.

I think it’s up the couple. Some want to finish school first an then look for a spouse some think marrying right away is the better course to take. If I ever had married it would have been better for me the wait till my 30s. I didn’t marry and have no prospect of it now in my 40s…I don’t anticipate it for me in the future. I never believed in long engagement lasting years though so if you find somone who is a good match and you feel really connected with I feel it better to go for it then wait around for a lavish wedding or you reach an acceptable age for society. You can’t live your life for the whims of others only you know what you’re ready for.

No, I meant there was a time in the not-so-distant past when only a lunatic would find a spouse that way.

I talked to my husband, and he agreed: If you and your friends enjoy spending some time in clubs or the like, there isn’t anything necessarily immoral about it, and you might find someone who also enjoys the kind of entertainment the establishment offers, whether that is live music or really great tapas and a nice by-the-glass wine list. But if you don’t enjoy the place or the people that congregate there, at your very luckiest you might find someone to whom you can say, ā€œLet’s get out of here!ā€ That’s not a high likelihood.
Years and years ago, some of the guys were complaining to one of the married ladies about not being able to find women that they wanted to marry.

Her response was that if you hang out in bars, all you are going to find are bar-flies.

If you are a devout Catholic, then sign up with all of your diocesan pro-life groups.

If you are or want to be politically conservative, then go on-line and find your local Tea Party and 9-12 groups.

They all have email newsletters … subscribe and then show up at or attend the meetings, which can be weekly. Get there early and ask if there is anything you can do to help out. Setting up the tables … whatever.

If you are serious about your work, then look among the other people where you work.

If you like to ski or scuba dive, then join groups that do those things.

Every state has pro-development groups. They have weekly newsletters and monthly meetings. Show up.

Here is one of them:

Call them and ask for the name of the group in your state. Then go to the meetings.

I was at one meeting a couple of weeks ago and this gorgeous gal sat down next to me. But I’m married and old enough to be her grandfather. šŸ‘

Where I’m from no woman would consider a man attending a baby shower as anything other than either ā€œmommy’s boyā€ or gay. Maybe it is different where you are. šŸ˜‰
Well where im from, girlfriends drag their boyfriends to baby showers and single guys will go if it is one of their good friends wife or girlfriend who the shower is for so they can drink beer and socialize with their friends. I think a single stright guy going ANYWHERE where he knows there will be women is universal.

Suggestions:
  1. Join your parish’s young adult group for get togethers. At my parish women outnumber men at least 3 to 1.
  2. Theology on Tap. The Wikipedia article linked earlier isn’t comprehensive (my city isn’t listed even though ToT meets here), so Google, Google, Google.
  3. If you have a hobby you’re passionate about, join a local group. Whether it be art (museums often have young adult groups), running, music, or something else, most cities have common interest groups like these.
  4. Go to Mass. This Sunday I sat between two single (no ring), very attractive women.

Not wearing a ring doesn’t mean much nowadays. I don’t wear my wedding ring because I gained too much weight. 😦 I’m also not very attractive & certainly not young!

But I was over 30 when I met my husband when I joined a 3rd order. Tho I’ll admit I was not at all attracted to him. He had to work at it. šŸ˜‰

Buying a new fridge sounds preferrable to martyrdom. Unless of course they kill you fast šŸ™‚
