Is this even a “thing” anywhere, to own and display a vatican flag? I see many Christian churches flying the Christian flag, so i was wondering if any Catholic parishes outwardly displayed the Crest?
Apparently so: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Flagthere’s a christian flag? a universal christian flag?
Zazzle, Cafe Press, and Amazon all sell them, search for “Vatican Flag”.My last parish flew the Vatican flag beneath the US flag. Looks great! Now that I’m thinking about it, I’ll offer to buy one for my current parish so we can fly the two on our pole.
If I had a flagpole at home, I’d do the same. Right now I’m looking for a sign or large pin with two flags crossed to display in my cubicle at work.
How incredibly bland.Apparently so: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Flag
news to me, but I would assume it would be a predominatly United States thing, although wiki does say it has some popularity in Latin american and African countries.Apparently so: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Flag
The Vatican flag should not be under the country flag since the Vatican flag is symbolic of God’s Holy See. There would not be a problem with them being side by side, but if one goes on top it should be the Vatican flag since God should always come first. My last parish flew the Vatican flag beneath the US flag. Yes, our Church has one. The flag of Vatican City is on the left side of the Church, and the American flag is on the right side of the ChurchIs this even a “thing” anywhere, to own and display a vatican flag? The Vatican flag is the flag of another nation. The flag of another nation should not be flown on the same pole as the American flag. The Vatican flag should not be under the country flag since the Vatican flag is symbolic of God’s Holy See. I am in TX, so if I were to do this, I’d set up the flags of USA, TX and SCV side by sideThe Vatican flag is the flag of another nation. The flag of another nation should not be flown on the same pole as the American flag.
In the United States, no flag should fly above the American flag. Most nations have similar rules for their flags.
We had a similar question at our church, when we noticed that the flagpoles were shorter than the steeple with the cross at the top. Symbolically, all national flags were under God’s cross. The Vatican flag should not be under the country flag since the Vatican flag is symbolic of God’s Holy See. Only if it is a Catholic flag. There is no such thing as “universal Christianity” - there is ONLY ONE true Church of Christ, and that is the Catholic Church.there’s a christian flag? a universal christian flag?
This has nothing to do with Catholicism. And it really infuriates me that someone would presume to lump THE Church left to us by Jesus Christ, through His Apostles, in with organizations teaching heresy.Apparently so: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Flag
The Vatican flag is the flag of a nation, but it’s also symbolic of the Holy See. Just like the Pope is a head of state, but he’s also the Vicar of Christ. And that’s why it’s not appropriate for the flag of the Holy See to be under any nation’s flag. I don’t see a problem with the two flags being side by side. But it’s God first, and that concept is even reflected in the fact that in US Navy tradition the chaplain’s flag is the only flag that is ever authorized to fly above the American flag. The Vatican flag is the flag of another nation. The flags of nations are ususally flown at the same height, while on different poles. A seperate state flag, like Texas, or Michigan can be flown on the same pole. Only it has to be below the national flag. At least, thats my understanding. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in (Diocese of) Springfield, Illinois has a big Vatican flag on a tall flagpole right next to a big American flag right outside its front door.
