This is the reason why the landing of advanced aliens on Earth is likely to shake the foundations of the Church.…The wording in the catechism is “unique and all together singular”, doesn’t leave much room for multiple incarnations across civilizations. Nor does the Church’s definitions on Christ’s nature.
For one thing, if the Biblical story of creation does not know about the existence of aliens on other planets, then is it a story of creation or just the story of how life formed on earth? If it is not complete, how accurate is it?
Then the question of Jesus as Savior and Redeemer - if advanced aliens don’t recognize Jesus as their Savior, then how universal is the Christ? the Church will have to either change its doctrines or come up with an explanation that includes aliens.
