Pants for women?

It’s easy for me to see that since neither one of you has acknowledged the fact that people dress quite differently around the world - although I’ve posted it a number of times. It’s as if some folks exist in a big ol’ American-only vacuum. Yuck.

Dresses/skirts for all women? Says who? Not the Church.
Just please quote something that I have written which indicates that I wish to impose “dresses/skirts for all women.” You are overreacting.

If and when Rome decrees what you propose to all (based on no more than your very personal opinion), then I shall comply. Women continued to be wives and mothers while they worked in munitions and aircraft factories - and toiled as telphone linemen and postal workers and … why should I continue? If you really believe that clothing makes the man or the woman, then Heaven help you. PS - In my opinion, God is quite merciful to me and I thank Him for that.
This isn’t about clothing “making” the man or the woman. It is about the proper order of things. My post wasn’t directed at you personally as you seem to think.

I’ve ridden a horse in a skirt, I’ve climbed in and out of a fishing boat countless times in a skirt, I’ve gone fly fishing in a skirt, hiking in a skirt, shooting range in a skirt, crossed Puget Sound in the middle of winter outside on the front of the ferry in a skirt, traveled on airplanes in a flowing ankle length skirt, worked around horses in a skirt, and if someone asked me to go bike riding I would do it in a skirt and if I found I couldn’t, then I wouldn’t bike ride, period. Same with any other activity, if I can do it I will, if I can’t, I won’t. Some things women aren’t meant to do. Face it or accept feminism as your second religion.
Wow! That is harsh. Piouswoman, if you don’t wish to wear pants, I promise that here in the Unites States no one will force them upon you. And if you choose to only wear dresses and skirts, no one (mature and educated) will label you as being odd or some other derogatory title. Wouldn’t it be nice if you’d show those women who don’t share your position the same courtesy?

Ladies, I never intended to get this involved in this thread. I figured I’d post a quick message and move on. But I have to say that I am surprised over how something so trivial can cause such negative feelings between people.

If the men here will honestly think about it, which would you be more inclined to look twice at, a woman in a tight pair of jeans or a woman in a modest skirt?
That is a skewed question. You automatically define the pants as having to be “tight” while labeling the skirt as being “modest.” This is not an honest way in which to get an unbiased response as not all pants have to be tight fitting nor skirts modest. As a male, my attention is drawn more toward a woman wearing a skirt than toward a woman wearing pants. Perhaps I am in the minority, I don’t know. Regardless, what men prefer is not the issue. This issue is whether pants are acceptable for women to wear, and the answer to that question is yes.

Pw and Lt -

I might as well add - since both of you seem to be rather removed from this valley of tears - ensconced instead in some version of Alice’s wonderland - that Sisters (consecrated women religious) from around the world have entered third-world nations such as Thailand to serve in refugeee camps for Cambodians (for one example) and the Sisters had to wear shirts and pants, setting aside their Holy Habits for the sake of souls.

You seem to be quite removed from all manner of reality.
c,
I might add that you seem to have some chip on your shoulder regarding pants, if the viewpoints of a couple of ladies on an internet forum can provoke you to such rudeness.

Please don’t attempt to force your brain into imagining what I “seem to think” about anything. Your link clearly makes my point. Certain women in the West (on both extremes) seem to imagine that western culture is the equivalent of the Catholic Church. WRONG.

They would be able to do the same work in long habits just as nuns and pioneer missionary priests have always done for centuries before this neo-world thinking came along. And they would most likely have better results. It is fact that religious clothed in traditional habits garner far more respect.

I don’t look at woominz. Girls are icky and have cooties. I knew that when I was 5 and it’s still true! 😉

I wasn’t going to divulge this…but after reading Piouswomans noncharitable posts…

Like I said I have wore pants for 30 of my almost 60 years…nothing else…why? For one simple reason, due to an auto accident my legs have bad scars…maybe I am vain…I don’t care. I feel I am just lucky to be alive…but I don’t feel I need to “show” the world what the result of being T-boned in a car is. I think you are being unnreasonable and unwavering and presumptuous. Thankfully, at least I hope those who think like you are in the minority. God knows what is in my heart.

God Bless

Tietjen - thank you for checking in - whoever you are. I can see you understood my points and agree that the rebuttals of PW and LT are very harsh. I do hope both of them will respond to you.

Yes, L-T, Tight jeans and modest skirts. Preposterous.
Piouswoman will dress us all in appropriate wear. Sure.

wow, you read that article pretty quick…

Than isn’t going to work. It is, and forgive my bluntness, a play on sympathy. Long skirts will cover as well as mans pants.

Aren’t you afraid that you’ll break your neck or - at minimum, several limbs - with all of that jumping to conclusions? These Sisters would not have been allowed to enter Thailand without agreeing to this government dictate (from the Thais). All of them wear the Holy Hbit in their ordinary work around the world.

Neo world? There are canonized Saints who were missionaries and martyrs who entered countries (to evangelize) dressed as laypeople. As for me, my rheumatoid arthritis and hypertension are causing me to decide to bow out of this thread for now.

No I won’t. I have no interest in arguing with those who refuse to see.

A play for sympathy? My, my…you are not very kind are you? You know what? When I considered going to the TLM and I called the priest he said that pants were fine. I guess he would know better than you, eh? I also go to daily Mass and God has never struck me dead for wearing pants. So…I think I will continue to wear my pants to Mass and continue to pray for small minded people like you.😉

Oh, am I wrong in stating that a long skirt covers as well as pants?

Wow, tough room! Not one comment about my L’il Rascals ice-breaker! Another comedic jewel, lost to the ages.

😃

Maybe a look at this might show you who is being uncharitable and unkind.

I have yet to see this kind of remark from catharina.

Do I just take your word for all of this?
