I think we are both getting this. I mean seriously. I have only been considering this [wearing long skirts only] for the past two weeks. The idea of it has come and gone several times over the past few years, which is why I am beginning to look at it more seriously.
And this may not make many happy or may make you think less of my debate of this issue. But, I don’t live nor have visited other parts of the world. I live in America and am confronted with American fashions each time I go to a store trying to look for something modest for myself and my daughters. It becomes more difficult each time we go. I have found that I have to buy my daughter pants 2 sizes bigger than she needs. If I buy the ones that fit her in length, they are skin tight on her butt and theighs, and she is not chunky or anything.
I don’t think women do it in the same way that men do. Let’s see…a few months ago we were in Ocean City, it was senior week. There was a lot of hoochie mama teenagers. At night the group we were with was sitting on the deck of our hotel. The guys were making fun of the teens walking by because they knew they were looking for parties to go to and such, and being that they are underage, they can’t go to the type of party they were looking for. Anyway, it is no surprise that when you go to the beach you will be confronted with lots of immodesty. There was one group of girls in particular that came walking down the boardwalk. They had their bikini’s on with t-shirts over top of them. They had cut the shirts over top of their chest area. When I saw this I was thinking how gross these girls were and how they had no shame. I was appauled by them. The guys that were sitting on the deck bout leapt from their chairs with their jaws dropped. They were speaking of God’s name, but not in praise or worship. They were definitly lusting over these girls.
Now, I am not saying that men would have the same reaction to girls in pants. What I am saying though is that I never saw a woman react in that manner to a guy she thought was cute. Which brings me to what I have said multiple times in this thread and what RosaryCrusader has been saying.
Men are visual creatures. A woman’s breast, not only is it for nourishment of children, but is for a mans pleasure and arrousal. This is Scriptural (read Song of Songs). Maybe I just can’t imagine a woman looking at men and coming to the point of arrousal. I can imagine that in men, what do you think happens when they go to strip clubs?
When Scripture says that women shouldn’t wear that which partains to a man and men shouldn’t wear that which pertains to a woman, what does it mean? Is it normal for a man to wear makeup? Is it normal for a man to wear jewelry (i.e., pierced ears)? Society doesn’t see a problem with this. Does God?
Hey, times are tuff right now. I am trying to find the money to begin transforming my own wardrobe…
