As for the OP, I don’t think there is anything wrong with men and women wearing pants, yet I cannot help but feel it would be nice to have some clear external differences and those differences seem to be blurred when we all dress similarily.

your telling me you guys cant tell it is a woman if she dresses in pants?:eek: I mean there is a difference physically between the two sexes…

Of course, yet it is a blurring quite often.
 
I find nothing wrong with women wearing pants or dresses normally if they are proper length or fit. Pants that are too tight or dresses that are too revealing are just too tempting for us lecherous old men.

Whatever happened to the days of hot pants and mini-skirts ??? not to mention bikinis or thong swimwear or whatever…

Just came back from Atlantic City and the outfits that all the cocktail waitresses wear there are skimy enough to give all the guys bad cases of whip lash. How’s a guy supposed to keep his attention on the poker game ??? no wonder why I lost a bundle.

And there are very tasteful pants for women too (such as those ones - man you must be tall!) . I should have included pants too. 🙂 But not pants that would be an occasion for sin to the men sitting behind a woman who um… is not modest about her um… curves or something. Men are visual, the last thing we need in church is to be distracted. 😉

yes that would have saved me a lot of money … or not… at least it would have kept me on moral high ground…if that is even possible in a casino…

I just noticed that SIN is in part of the word… I wonder if that was intentional…

That is exactly what I needed to read because that is something I was dicerning for such a long time and now I feel a peace with it. 😉

I think part of the objection some people have against women wearing pants is that the um differences between the sexes are all too apparent given the way some women wear those pants.
 
It’s obvious, by reading other comments here, that it depends on the person and the pants. Ogden Nash wrote:

As for our Brit correspondent’s observation, I’m not sure the wearing or not wearing of undergarments can be judged morally. Besides, how would anyone know?😃

Did you read my post? I am a married woman, and I don’t want men hitting on me or looking at me lustfully, and as I work on a university campus, I certainly don’t want to provide them with easier access if they are so inclined.

Perhaps some of us find it sad that we don’t feel as safe in certain articles of clothing.

Ditto to that. I have been harassed and leered at too many times while wearing a modest skirt. One of those times I was assaulted. Rarely has any man bothered me when I’m wearing a pair of jeans. I am talking about feminine, fashionable jeans that certainly don’t make me “look like a man”.

I feel safer in pants. And I certainly don’t buy the “long skirts keep men from lusting” argument. Would-be rapists do think that skirts = easier access. It is not just a humorous cliche–it is a real M.O. used by real bad guys.

There’s nothing wrong with wearing a nice skirt, but don’t anybody try to say that modest skirts and dresses make a woman safer. It’s not true.
 
Yup. Especially since some people think that a quiet, modest person is probably a pushover. Dressing for mobility and speed as well as modesty is sometimes an important thing.

Not to mention warmth. Even long skirts can sometimes get a little breezy in the wintertime… brr!
