People treat Marxism/Communism as though it were just another political choice, like being Democrat or Republican. It is not. Communism and its allied movements murdered over 200 million people in the 20th century. They outlawed Christianity and destroyed churches. Alexandra Kollontai went so far as to declare herself to be the antichrist.
Look up “the execution of the Sacred Heart” online to see what I’m talking about.
If it is said that Pope Francis did not stand up against the efforts of Argentina’s government to prevent a Communist revolution then I say good for him. I don’t doubt that there were some excesses during those operations that were unfortunate. That’s not uncommon in counter-insurgency efforts because there’s no set playbook and the bad guys don’t wear uniforms and march in neat little rows.
I’m glad that Argentina was never overtaken by a violent Communist revolution. That would have been bad. We can deplore excesses and yet acknowledge that a state should defend itself, for the sake of everyone, from dangerous elements.
However, I don’t see anything in the article but hearsay and innuendo. So even if you can’t abide COIN efforts or Operation Condor I don’t think that you should worry. The only thing definite that the article even says is that he worked behind the scenes to rescue two detained priests (I deplore that any man should lay hands on a cleric, just so you know!).
The good side of this article is that if this is the best that the liberal media has on the Pope, then they’ve got nothin’.
