Papal infallibility in documents

This is my point. In actual fact, I read (today) that in certain circumstances, an Apostolic Exhortation can be considered infallible, one example being when the texts within it point to and draw upon already-established known truths. And this document, in that sentence, does exactly that.

Because it sums up beautifully without extrapolation what it is that the Church believes in ‘right ordering and development of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary’.
I understand FOR YOU this sums up beautifully what you think the Church believes…I am not arguing what you believe or saying you are wrong in your beliefs. All I am asking is you need to HONESTLY and freely admit this document is not about the Beginning of the Church and is only something that is “mentioned in passing” in the document. The Church’s beginnings is not the context of the document.

It’s like Matthew 1:25 whether or not Joseph had relations with Mary is not the context of Matthew 1.

I haven’t read this book yet but it is on sale for Christmas and I would recommend you get it because I believe this thread is the very reason Jimmy wrote this book.

God Bless

the saint writes that the texts used in the celebration of the Immaculate Conception recognise the beginning of the Church
I am not sure I accept, or even follow, your arguments about infallibility, but I do agree with you on the Immaculate Conception. The texts on the beginning of the Church are read on Dec 8 because they apply to Mary.

The arguments that the Church was begun during the life of Christ are reminiscent of the arguments against the Immaculate Conception. A linear idea of time precludes Christ saving before he was born or died. The Church believes Christ saved Mary before he was born, even before she was born. This action happened out of sequence, but it was the first application of the grace Christ would win for us. She was the first person saved by the death and resurrection of her Son, long before those things came to pass.

Since the proof of the pudding is in the eating, it is the liturgy that teaches this. Hearing the Word describe the beginning of the Church, we recognize how this happened at her Conception.

an Apostolic Exhortation is not necessarily infallible except in certain circumstances. One being that it is pointing to already established and dogmatically defined truths.
Agreed. also a Apostolic Exhortation should be considered invalid if it’s content results in the ’ Deposit of Faith ’ being buried. Take for example if Amoris Laetitia undermines our Catholic Ethics and presents us with a New Paradigm

Uh oh, look out for that. I don’t know if CAF will accept that comment.
