Filioque as taught by the CC is absolutely true.
However, in the Ruthenian Catholic Church they say the creed without the filioque. If the filioque is true, then why do they say the creed without it?

Does anyone have a rebuttal against this?
yes, why dont you start to read from the begining of chapter 15. James spoke only after Peter had made the decision.
besides you would be amazed to realize that not even today we dont record every word spoken, can you imagine back them? do you really believe that every word spoke, every instruction was recorded? do you?

PEACE!

Acts 15:19-20

"Therefore I have reached the decision
that we should not trouble those Gentiles who are turning to God, but we should write to them to abstain only from things polluted by idols and from fornication and from whatever has been strangled and from blood."

IOW James said I decide to go with what Peter said 🙂

"After they finished speaking, James replied, “Brethren, listen to me.
Simeon has related how God first visited the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And with this the words of the prophets agree…Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God” ACTS 15:13-19

Amen brother. You made the point. Simeon has related–but James has decided. 👍

St James is using the Greek word, “krino*”*, a legal term meaning “I decide”, “I rule”, “I judge”.

AMEN brother.

St. James knew he couldn’t go wrong if he ruled on something that the infallible Pope of Rome had already related.

They do not.
Going back 4 years, here is what others have said

I hear you and others rail against Latinization. Well there are those who rail against Helenization also.

All I said previously was, it was my impression that Ruthenians included the filioque.

Whether it is universal, I don’t know. I have not been to a Ruthenian liturgy. I can only go by what others say who have. But as you can see, the filioque was added, and as of 4 years ago, there are liturgies that included it.

Besides that, here is some background

after Peter had spoken about the matter, james said "listen to me . “Simeon has described how God first arranged to…”.then he goes on to say We should send them a letter…

Mickey, back up a few verses.

Peter said the following

Acts 15:

7After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9He made no distinction between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear? 11No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

THEN what does James say? Remember, the folks they are talking about and who are causing the problems, are from James party.

Acts 15:19-20

***"*Therefore I have reached the decision that we should not trouble those Gentiles who are turning to God"

Mickey,

Isn’t that what Peter just said? YES!!! Did James implement what Peter said? YES!!!

we’ve been over this a bazillion times.

Listen Mickey, we’ve been over this a bazillion times.
Yeah Steve I know. And it is amazing to me that the RC apologists continue to twist it. It is very simple. St James was the head of the Church of Jesusalem. He made the decision. St Peter had no jurisdiction nor supremacy here.

Is really is quite evident. 🤷
