Dear Friends,

The Franciscan Friars Capuchin Minor of the Province of
The Holy Angel and Saint Pio

The local Archbishop of Manfredonia
has indicated to them that
His Holiness Benedict XVI
will in all likelihood attend
at some time the Public Veneration.

Dear Friends,

A Eucharistic Celebration opened
the Presentation and Public Veneration
of the Relic Body of Saint Pio
for the Cult of the Faithful
this morning at 5 a.m. EST.
The event was broadcast on the internet at
TELERADIOPADREPIO
Further broadcasts are available at that link.

In addition to Cardinal Jose Saraivo Martins,
Prefect for the Congregation for the Causes of Saints
who presided,
a host of Bishops of the Church
and certainly hundreds of priest also officiated.

Following the Mass in the
new church of Saint Pio in
San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy
the hierarchical assembly processed through the crowd
of pilgrims across the plaza to
the old church of La Madonna delle Grazie.

Once assembled in the crypt
Cardinal Martins offered prayers and incensed the
reliquary which was constructed for this
Public Veneration.

The relic body of Saint Padre Pio is dressed in
his simple Franciscan Capuchin robe.
It has been placed for viewing in a large
glass, stone and metal reliquary which
is seated on four pillars so that it is at eye level.

The face appears fresh, as if Father Pio is
alive and only asleep.
The Friars have officially noted
that due to the intrusion of moisture
into the crypt in which Padre Pio was buried,
some restorative work was required.
There is no suggestion at present that these relic remains
were in some way preserved by divine intervention.

Pictures of this extraordinary event will be communicated shortly.

The relic remains of Saint Pio
will remain on display for
public veneration through September 23rd,
the fortieth Anniversary of his death.
It has been reported that
Cardinal Tedesco, the Vatican Secretary of State
will preside over the Mass
which will end the public dispostion.

I posted this on another thread…

Did anyone see the video on H2O news? I’d swear I saw Padre Pio blink. I ran it 3 times, looking for flashes from cameras (there were a few), or other causes, but it looks for all the world like his eyelids open slightly.
