Parental Block-- Parents Dislike Boyfriend

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about it.
Some people just don’t like other people. I have a nice friend who my parents hate his guts (I think it mostly has to do with envy). When my church went to the Holy Land trip, my mom was annoyed that “he threw me under the bus and went without me”. I was working and was fully invited to the trip, so it wasn’t his fault at all.
You should honor your parents but understand that they are sinners like everyone else. They also have petty dislikes and prejudices. Your difficult task is to discern the later (he/she has stupid hair!)from genuine wise advice.

Ignore my last post. I didn’t read what happened to the story. Now I know why society is going down the crapper. Lack of good faith and trust. This kind of intrigue and backstabbing belongs Byzantine history books.

If you want to have your husband cheat on you with other women, bring drunks and alcohol into your house and impart these ideals to your children go ahead and marry the guy. If you ask me your parents were right. For This guy to rehabilitate would mean at least 2-3 years of sober and chaste life loving God.

That was always my worry-- I didn’t want my kids to ever think that being drunk or high was okay, and I’m not sure he would have imparted those morals.

I do think that my parents were right all along, but I couldn’t see it. (I’m still learning.) I think the root cause was that my heart was too invested too soon. I became attached before I learned and/or realized things about him that I never would have put up with before.

That’s still what I’m struggling with. My intellect is fine with how things are now. He isn’t right for me, and I sometimes think the ugly means justify the end. But I still feel very badly for what I’ve done to Matt. Despite all that has happened, I am still a little bit attached, too, unfortunately. I have so far taken the advice given and not reached out to him at all though.

I want to send him his cross and scapular back, but I don’t know if that would do any good.

There is no reason for you to give it back. (He doesn’t want it.) Except that you want to drag this on longer.

Nothing good can come from this relationship. Please, try and move on. I know that is hard if you are currently not seeing anyone. And if you are seeing someone, then you really need to be present for him, not Matt.
