Parish Rejecting Church Doctrine

I found a parish on the internet that seems very worrying. It has a pride flag on the homepage and has website links and information posted on the website supporting the ordination of women priests, and various resources that seek to change Church teaching on homosexuality.

It also has a picture of parish members including the parish priest holding a pride flag marching in the pride parade. The parish priest is also openly homosexual. It claims to be ‘in the spirit of Vatican II’. Are parishes allowed to act like this, I thought they only could promote official Church teaching.

I am quite worried, surely what this parish promotes is against Church teaching? I am quite sure that if I went to confession at this parish the priest would tell me to forget all about purity and chastity, and not worry about sinning. I am disturbed that a parish is allowed to promote this.

God Bless.

Yes, it is. I will not name the offending parish but it is certainly genuine and is listed as a parish on the website of the diocese it is located in.

On the internet? So what? It is probably one of the fake “Catholic” splinter groups. They have heard the truth but reject it. Let them answer for their sins.

The solution is simple. Talk to the parish priest and if you are not satisfied with his answers take photos and any other evidence and contact his bishop.
We cannot tell here if all is what you think it is.

Why would you worry about a Parrish you found in the internet which isn t even yours?
Sounds more like looking for something to worry about . Not saying you are but it is across the world for you and it really doesn t affect you directly nor you can do much about it so…

Yes, but sometimes it is a distraction…
Worrying about things one really has no influence upon , adds that: worry, but we really cannot do much about it and we may neglect or forget what is really our immediate concern.
Just saying… do as you wish of course.

This is still our Church. All parishes should be orthodox.
Anyone who has issues with a parish must always talk to the parish priest first and if not satisfied then contact the Bishop. The Bishop will not entertain allegations that are not backed by evidence, including other witnesses otherwise it could simply be someone with a problem with a priest trying to make mischief.
There are procedures to do this.

Who flagged it I get why the first one was due to the author not wanting the parish the be identified but the latter ones I did nothing wrong

I don’t know, nothing offensive was said. I have withdrawn my posts, you might want to as well.

Perhaps to avoid further consequences we may have to end the thread.

It seems inappropriate to me to be condemning/ ganging up on some parish that the OP in NZ claims he saw operating in another country. As the parish is not in the OP’s neighborhood, diocese or even in his country, he has no knowledge of what might be going on with the parish or between it and its bishop currently, and none of us are in any position to talk to the pastor there, which the bishop would require someone to do who is considering lodging a complaint against the parish.

graciew already answered the OP sufficiently in my opinion. It is one thing if it’s your own parish or one in your city or diocese so you can go talk to the pastor and then if necessary contact the bishop, but this sort of Internet witch hunt is just inappropriate to me.

CAF used to have a rule that we should not name particular churches or parishes when discussing possible issues. I am not sure if this rule still stands as the Moderator recently said there the rule did not apply on a thread where we were praising a particular parish. This is certainly not a thread praising the parish.

It’s a public scandal bear.
The parish itself has publicly proclaimed this. It’s not hearsay or a secret accusation.
