I am not offended by the fact that the parade includes homosexuals. I am offended by its crude nature. I viewed the two minute video. To me it was two minutes of execrable taste.

I agree that the heirarchy should instruct the clergy not to participate in this demeaning, soft porn, exercise. I have real objections to a priest involving himself in such a matter.

I don’t know where they came in the parade order, but I am also shocked that children were part and parcel of it. Talk about setting a bad example!

Those that arrange this even yearly have an agenda. Their agenda includes the use of religious leaders, children and the cry for political correctness. If anyone objects to their agenda they are called biggots or homophobic.

Those being “used” in this way should take care that their participation is seen by others as promotion of a sinful agenda.

Well in Spain there is group that is taking action,

“Gay Pride” parade in Madrid turns anti-Catholic
Madrid, Jul 4, 2007 / 10:21 am (CNA).- The civil rights website HazteOir.org announced it will file a lawsuit against the organizers of the Gay Pride 2007 parade for “offending religious sentiments,” as participants insulted and ridiculed Catholics and Catholic beliefs.
“The Gay Pride 2007 march in Madrid on June 30 brought together a complete cast of mockery, offenses and threats against those who do not accept the dogmas of the most powerful lobby. Once again this year Catholics were victims of most of the diatribes,” the website stated.
Participants in parade derided bishops and priests and “labeled those who believe in marriage as a union between a man and a woman as ‘homophobes’.”
The website also denounced the city government of Madrid for financial supporting the event despite its record of mocking Catholics in recent years.

So many of Benedict’s epsiscopal appointments have been inexplicable. This is just another one.
That is uncalled for and untrue For the Archbishop was already a Bishop and just a transfer.

I Love my German Shephard -

Unfair IMHO. 😦 There are just so many priests to be elevated to Bishop. And there are just so many Bishops available for the openings.
Where I would like to see change is to keep the leash shorter and make sure those in positions of authority are following Holy Mother Church and not the American political venue.😃

I think it is true. CWR ran a report on the new Bishop of SF a while back and how the archdiocese is finessing gay adoption.

There is a whole thread on Holy Redeemer Church here and their less than “Catholic” presence in the gay parade recently. I don’t know what else I can say to you - come and visit if you doubt.

I understand your issues. They are valid. But, to blame the POPE for the troubles is simplifying the situation. PAPA can’t change the world in two years when it has taken forty or more to get into this mess.😦

Problem with that is JP2 had a long reign and many of the problem bishops today were appointed by him. The pattern does not seem to be changing. Isn’t the buck, to be crude, supposed to stop somewhere?

Yes. It will stop in God’s time and not ours.

As was stated by a rather famous nun. “I prayed to God for patience and please give it to me NOW”. As unfortunate as it might seem to us, things are not done in our time.

What about Bishop Dewane whom PB XVI appointed?

Venice (FL) bishop forbids VOTF meetingon church grounds, that is. Bill from Naples (FL) sent me the following newspaper ad VOTF took out after it was refused usage of church facilities. Bishop Frank Dewane was recently appointed bishop of the Venice Diocese. Seems to me that Pope Benedict’s new bishops are turning out really well (one can’t count bishops he “inherited”).
The pattern is changing…Just keep praying.

That is because for much of his reign he had a bad advisors who misled him . He wanted to appoint holy priests to be bishops, but his advisors were only giving him dissident priests.

Why does God allow this to happen?
Think about what exactly makes these bishops bad. Usually it is in relation to rejection of Church teachings regarding sex and or procreation, such as abortion.

But, didn’t the laity reject the Pope’s teachings on sex and procreaction when Humanae Vitae was written years ago.

I think God has given us the same bishops that we wanted, that is, we have bishops who also reject Church teachings on sex and procreation.

But, we will argue, these bishops allow pedophiles who harm children. Contraception doesn’t harm children.

It doesn’t?
Birth control pills are known to allow ovulation and conception, but prevent implantion of the newly formed child. Thus, they cause chemical abortions. A conservative estimate is four chemical abortions per year by those using birth control pills. Abortion destroys life entirely. At least priests who sexually abuse others don’t normally kill. Thus those who use birth control pills are far worse than bad bishops.

But, some will argue that they don’t use birth control pills, but use other means that don’t cause chemical abortions.

But any type of contraception tends to ruin marriages. Couples who use natural family planning have less than a 3% divorce rate. Those who use contraception have a 30-50% divorce rate. Divorce devestates children.

The harm to children through divorce, by the Catholic laity, far outweighs the harm to childen by a small percentage of priests and bad bishops.

If the laity reform themselves first, then I think God will give us good bishops and priests again.
