They exhibit more than merely an “explanation.” They exhibit an underlying predisposition and presupposition, which is certainly an argument non-theists might use either for or against God’s existence. In fact, it is the argument of choice by non-theists in general.

I have read it over several times and see nothing there that could be used as an argument for evidence against gods existence. It is of course something that theists use on a regular basis as a defence against the problem of there being no evidence for their gods existence. The argument is usually presented as something along the lives of “you cannot put god to the test”.*

In any case I think the situation is now clear. You thought that I was attempting to make an argument, I was not. I know of no evidence either for or against the god hypothesis.*
