Passover sacrifice

Question if the Jewish people didn’t touch dead animals as it was forbidden how were they able to sacrifice the animals that they killed ?

I was under the impression that ritual impurity of touching an animal corpse only involved touching those of unclean animals (which you wouldn’t be offering up for sacrifice anyway) and those of clean animals that died by some other means than a human being slaughtering it according to halacha (again, you wouldn’t be sacrificing road kill).

There’s a difference between an animal whose cause (and time) of death is unknown, and an animal who has passed the inspection for being ritually fit (“without blemish”) for being offered as a sacrifice.
