I’m in the mood for a light hearted debate. Let us discuss the finer points of Pastafarianism, shall we? In case you don’t know of Pastafarianism or “Flying Spagetti Monster-ism”, check out the official website. venganza.org/

I’d like to hear opinions on the religion, and of course, some joke-telling.
 
And just what will your FSM be able to do when the Great Saucing comes, which even IT will not be able to escape?

But of course I did. Just as in the myths of Jesus dying and coming to life, the Flying Spaghetti Monster will rise back from the oven to claim dominion over the Earth.
 
Personally, I am more interested in discussing the more recent prophet of the FSM, Al Dentae. There is no fsm but the FSM and Al Dentae is his prophet

Who else would eat the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Jesus? Jesus was the holy son of the FSM. How many sons do you know who would eat their fathers? Blackbeard, on the other hand, hasn’t eaten in well over 250 years.
 
My neighbor is an atheist and he linked me to that site.
He grew up a 7th Day Adventist, went on to 7th day college in Walla, Walla. Had a bad experience with a professor over some doctrinal issue and then went atheist.
(that is how he shared the story with me)
It does seem that most atheists I’ve met have had some sort of negative experience with Christianity, and/or are angry at Christianity.
I state this because I never hear them railing against any other form of religion. Only Christian orgs.

And, I guess it is an accurate statement to state that atheists are people of faith as well.

After all, they have no empirical evidence that there is not a Creator.

They place their faith in an ideology that claims there is no Creator.

My name is PantheistsRule. Guess what? I’m not an Atheist, I’m a Pantheist.

I, having a liberal theological outlook, as is demonstrated by my love of the FSM, rail against all organized religion, not just Christianity. You hear a lot of atheists and agnotics railing against Christianity because Christianity is the main religion in the places most atheist and agnostics come from. I disagree with Judaism, Islam, and Hinduism too. But, If I started telling you about how Jews and Muslims were wrong, you’d agree with me, seeing as you are an “atheist” regarding those religions. So, there’s no point in arguing how wrong those religions are in my opinion too.

So, I have no evidence there is not a creator. I have evidence of science (if science is not in fact by definition evidence), but you can always say that an invisible guy is up there either making the science, or manipulating the science so we get the wrong idea about the world. You don’t believe something just because there is no evidence proving it false. If a relative of yours died in a car accident you did not witness, and you did not attend his/her funeral, you’d have no evidence proving he/she died. No matter how many records existed or witnesses there were, you’d have no evidence that he/she died, seeing as you didn’t witness her death or funeral yourself. Witnesses could be changing the story. You could not disprove that she escaped the fiery wreckage and it was someone else who was found. Any elaborate excuse or thought we can think of can be thought of as true if it cannot be disproven. Unless you see something, or sense something (with your five senses, not “your heart”) it can’t be proven true. And, if you go as far as to say that your senses can’t be trusted, that someone or something is changing what you see, then anything can be true. This makes the studying or pondering the Universe (if it exists) incredibly incredibly complicated. Nothing could be real at all. Or, anything far-fetched could be real. We could all be living in a centuries old bologna sandwich sitting at the bottom of a sunken pirate ship, or perhaps we are radioactive mice who’ve been sent into a virtual reality by a species of giant flying cats. Can you disprove that?
 
Instead of " railing against organized religion" why not start a charity that will feed, clothe or help people? Pantheism, Atheism, Humanism and any other modern day term used to describe liberal young adults who have nothing better to do with their time but create gods out of things i have for dinner is the most worthless state of the human mind. I used to work for Catholic Charities this summer and I had to put together a list of religious organizations that helped with medical, dental, and other expenses. The list in the tri-state area of MD-VA-and DC was over 30 pages long! You want to convince us that there is legitimacy to your position? Put your money where your mouth is----start your own half-way houses, your own homeless shelters, your own charities. Academics is one thing—practical matters are another. Spent 22 years without Christ, and I am 23. I know your position all too well.

I started responding to you catagorcialy w/o reading completely through you diatribe.
Then, I stopped and read through it.
I think I had a hit of what your are presently on back in about 68’.

I pray, that you will pray directly to our Lord and God for your hardened heart to be softened, and accept our Lord into your heart:thumbsup:👍

I agree with you a hundred percent (on charity), and feel the same about atheists caring about nothing but dogma. We were having a conversation about dogma and religion though. In the end, what matters is the difference you make, not why you make it, I know. I do my share of volunteering, but being young (23, actually), I hardly have the money to go start up a charity with. Starting a charity is my dream.

I could talk all day about this with you, as I hold the same postition about apathetic atheists who could care less about others. We were talking about religion though, not morals or charity. I care about what I believe, and don’t believe, and when discussing it with others, the FSM and all are tools I can use to get my point accross. I care more about helping others and charity, as in the end, my beliefs affect nothing, while what I do to help others can change the fate of generations of people.
