Doesn’t Mr Shenk have the right to express his opinion?
Both he and Dr. Graham do, of course.

NOTICE: FROM THIS DAY FORWARD, WHEN A LIBERAL ATTEMPTS TO DEFEND SOMETHING BY ASKING IF “DOESN"T HE HAVE A RIGHT TO AN OPINION? DOESN"T SHE HAVE A RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH?”, I SHALL SAY NO. IT IS ILLEGAL

How may times must we answer this inane question? How many times must we say yes but we have a right to express ours too?

I’ve been answering it on the internet for nearly a decade now. Seen it answered thousands, perhaps tens of thousands of times. Alan Colmes asks it almost every night but the answer never seems to sink in with him.

No mas.

If liberals don’t understand, can’t grasp the concept the first 30 or 40 times, what is the use?

Right. Good advice for conservatives, too, BTW. They’ve their own kind of thick heads.

Dr. Graham is not liked by many Evangelicals because when Catholics attend his rallies, his teams always refer the Catholics to the local parishes instead of to Evangelical churches. Dr. Graham is a friend of Catholicism, not an enemy like Fundamentalists are.
Actually it is my understanding that in the past the diocese helped him promote his “rallies” on the condition that Catholics would be referred back to their own diocese church and not evangelized by others. This year however there didn’t appear to be much “support” from the diocese from what I’ve read.

I’m not quite sure how much of a friend to Catholicism he is – I remember at one point he urged against appointing any Roman Catholic as chaplain to the US Senate. That may have been in the past however and if we allow that we as Catholics have “grown” differently, then we have to allow it for others too.

Yes. As I understand it, he started as a typical anti-Catholic preacher. He has certainly grown in wisdom since then.

“For a long time, my father has refrained from endorsing political candidates and he certainly did not intend for his comments to be an endorsement for Senator Hillary Clinton.”

“My father, of course, was joking,” the younger Graham said, when he hosted the Clintons onstage and told the crowd of 90,000, “They’re a great couple. … He should be an evangelist because he has all the gifts and he could leave his wife to run the country.”

Although Billy Graham has called himself a Democrat, Franklin said that didn’t mean he supported the former president, saying, “His political views, as well as mine, are quite different than the Clintons’.”

The Clintons, however “remain good friends,” he added.

The Rev. Graham felt compelled to issue the clarification after receiving more than 100 e-mails and calls of protest, the Observer said.

Even I, as a Protestant, am shocked and appalled.

Though I always liked his sermons, I lost a lot of respect for Billy Graham after reading his biography.

Here are some things you need to consider when talking about Mr. Graham (who is practically the equivolant of a Protestant Pope):
  1. He is FOR birth control, he said himself that he is “a big advocate of birth control”. Because as anyone can plainly see, “the world is 'overpopulated”. Hmm…overpopulated with people who are God’s creations, huh Billy boy? The same people you are trying to bring salvation to, and you wish they’d never been born? So, did God make a mistake? And, if so, which ones are the mistakes?
  2. He is in leauge with liberal organizations to stop the spread of AIDS. Sounds good at first, till you realize who these people are, and what OTHER things they are doing.
  3. He is a Democrat. He says that in an interview, that, “I don’t know why most of the support I get is from Republicans. I’m a Democrat.” To the best of my knowledge, he still is.
This is a terrible blow for the nation. The Clintons are devious enough to figure out that thier main opposition is coming from evangelical Christians, so that’s where they try to weasel themselves in, and quite frankly, Mr. Graham made it easy for them. He is more concerned with flattering political figures than he is with standing behind moral principles. I noticed that in his biography as well.

Thank the Lord, his daughter, Anna, is a pro-life advocate. I have always found that more women are than men.

But, so are most non-Catholic Christians.

Can he not associate with them just on their anti-AIDS work? If that’s the extent of his cooperation with them, then he is not blameable for whatever else they do. In the 1930s, some Catholic groups like the Catholic Worker, marched together with the Communists on the issue of equality for black people because that was the only group back then pushing for racial equality. On that issue, we could join arms, even if on little else.

Being a Democrat? Yeah, I can see how Republicans might believe that one’s being a Dem is a blow to the very nation. But, maybe that’s not as bad as the GOP might think.
