Pastoral Care for LGBTQ+

I have read the letter to the bishop on pastoral care for homosexual person issued by St. Pope John Paul II and it made me wonder what methods have the laity used to convert people with same sex attraction back to the faith. ( without compromising the truth)

And what can the faithful do in order to help in the process ?

IIRC, “Courage” was a lay movement, started by a small group of homosexual men who decided they wanted to live in accord with classical Christian sexual morality.

So, they “converted” themselves, in a sense.

Courage was founded by a priest, Fr. John Harvey, and has never been what can be described as a “lay movement”. It’s more a network of diocesan priests than anything else. They’re kind of secretive and coy about their membership, but there is no evidence that it has ever attracted a substantial number of LGBT laity.

You might be thinking of Dignity, the much larger and better known group which, though also founded by a priest, Father Pat Nidorf, has much more lay membership and involvement.

  3. He will use us if we are humble and docile to His prompting.
  4. It seems normally to be God’s will that we do not know of any good which we have done - lest we be puffed up.
  5. The parable of the sower. We plant. Someone else waters, but God gives the growth.
  6. There are no ‘special sins’ in the mortal realm. Sin is sin.

It’s probably just a misunderstanding on the nature of Courage.
 
She only mentioned the origin and what she said doesn’t match with Dignity either, from your description.
