Exactly what is the biblical authority of scripture? Could you explain that please? Does the Biblical Authority of Scripture come from the Bible or from the Church, the Magistrium which created the canon? The same Magisterium which teaches that it is OK to believe in evolution by the way.
So where in Genesis does it say you have to take it literally?
And… do you take Leviticus just as literally?

Nobody here is denying that God is the creator.
Anyways, I agree with the Pope. This debate is absurd. It is also just a little bit scandalous. When people see this, they might assume that what you are saying is what the Church teaches (which it isn’t) and it might pose a barrier to their belief and doom them to hell. I sincerely hope and pray that that does not happen.
Well, I’m done. No harm is done to your soul by believing a literalist account (I hate to say creationists because theistic evolution is also creationist, in that it has a directly involved creator). However, I’m starting to become annoyed at a display of complete disregard for God’s gift of reason, so I’m leaving to avoid being uncharitable. Do not take this as an indication that you “won”. I am merely avoiding the near occasion for sin.

Seriously, Azygos google what Pope Benedict says about all this, and take some serious time reading it. Do it even if it’s so you can argue against it.

I can’t explain this but to say that God has allowed this to happen. The Pope is wrong and science proves a young earth. The Catholic Church has always supported literal genesis and it is imbedded in doctine too. So either the Catholic Church was always wrong or the Pope is wrong. I take it that the Pope is wrong and unless he puts it into doctrine that the Earth is Old then I’m going to believe in the Truth. Since God won’t abandon his Church then Old Earth Evolution will probably never enter into Official Doctrine.

- Where does the Bible get it’s authority from? As you know it’s not from itself, but from the Church, so how could the Bible pronounce the Church wrong?
- If the bible is literal why aren’t you following Levitical Law?

Just watched it…an advertisement for bad science, and I use that term loosely, being sold at a profit. Anyone can create a DVD.
I was hoping that your were arguing for four pages just to argue…but that hope has been dashed. You really are saying that people like those in that DVD are to be taken more seriously than Pope Benedict and a plethora of other learned people.
So, here’s my opinion, Part Robertson actually got one right.I know, I know, a miracle may have to be authoritatively declared.
