Is there a patron saint for husbands whose wives have left, and who need discernment to figure out where they’ve gone wrong and where/how to fix it?
I second St. Joseph.
When my first husband killed himself, I prayed to St. Joseph.
A few years later…I met my present husband. Named Joseph.![]()
Now I really need to develop a deeper devotion to St. Joseph. Thank you for sharing these experiences.I’ve been there, 20 years ago now.
I prayed to St Joseph.
What I found particularly helpful was James Dobson’s book Love Must Be Tough (free pdf). Your comment about “Where I went wrong” suggested to me that it might be applicable to your case. Dumped spouses usually blame themselves, without justification - and Dobson addresses that very well. In fact, getting past that stage, after reading Dobson, was the big turning point for me.
I’ll say a prayer for you, and your children (?)
