I hope I don’t get in trouble for asking this. .
And/or I hope no one gets upset with me for asking this, but. .
The idea of having a “patron Saint.” Where did this come from? Is it based from Scripture, from traditions in the Church, or both?
. . Is it something the Church feels God would approve of. . ?
I apologize, all; but, I ask these questions because I am still learning about the Catholic faith. I just want to be knowledgeable, and know that what I am doing and deciding to practice is in line with God’s ways.
It does not help that my family, which is predominately Protestant, has pumped me full of misconceptions about the Church. Thankfully, I have taken it upon myself to read about the Catholic faith. Educate myself. I have also prayed to God, asking Him that He please reveal to me the truth about the Church.
So far, I am amazed. The essence of the faith and the Church is absolutely beautiful and makes me feel at peace. I have seriously considered Catechism and have spoken to a priest about RCIA.
