Paul was an apostle of Christ, ordained by God as apostle to the Gentiles. To deny this is heresy.
I am only a heretic according to the mouths of men; not God’s Word though. Paul ordained himself just as Joseph Smith did. If you do not expect me to believe Joseph Smith, then why expect me to believe Paul when he contradicts the Word of God?

Yes, and there is a remnant of Jews who are remaining faithful to God and not laying aside the Word of God to please man. The Word that I posted is from the Word of God… so, I trust that it is the claim of God; that He is not a man. Just because a Jew says that God changed His mind and became a man named Jesus (insert variation of name @ your pleasure) does not mean that God is, in fact a liar… it means that some of the Jews have been led astray.

I do not trust man… even if he is a Jew. I have been let down by a Jew just the same as I have been let down by other races of men/religions of men/ declarations of men. I trust God’s Word. That is my security and where I find my salvation. It was declared right the first time around. I trust Him because He has given me reason to trust Him… more so than anyone else.
How could these Jews be led astray. They are getting their scripture from the O.T. Everything about their belief in Jesus was and is Jewish in the purest and most biblical sense of the word.

Rinnie, send me via message where you are seeing this that you speak of. I cannot discuss what it is if I have not seen. I have seen some things put out by Messianic Jews, but never have I seen them claim that Jesus is God. And what they use to support their claims that he is the Messiah makes me very sad because it is in that, I can see their frustrations and anxieties in thinking that God has given up on them as christianity has been claiming for the last 2,000 years. Again, if you do not mind sending me the links to where you see this, I will be willing to look at it and consider it. 🙂

Gal 6:15
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

What the Torah says:
Gen 17:10,14
This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

And the Testimony:
Ezek 44:9
Thus saith the Lord GOD; No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel.

1 Cor 10:25
Whatever in the meat-market is sold eat ye, not inquiring, because of the conscience,

What the Torah says:
Lev 11:7-8
And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.
Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.

Gal 5:18
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Col 2:14
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances(Law) that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

What the Torah says:
Deut 6:17
Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes(laws), which he hath commanded thee.

Gal 2:16
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Rom 10:4
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

What the Torah says:
Deut 6:25
And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

Deut 4:2
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

2 Cor 3:6
Who(God) also hath made us(Paul and his followers) able ministers of the new testament(covenant); not of the letter(law), but of the spirit: for the letter(law) killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

What the Torah says:
Deut 26:16-17
This day the LORD thy God hath commanded thee to do these statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
Thou hast avouched the LORD this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes(laws), and his commandments, and his judgments, and to hearken unto his voice:

And the Psalmist says:
Psa 119:110-115
The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.
Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway, even unto the end.
I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.
Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.
Where did Paul tell us not to obey the ten commandments. Paul made it very clear that Grace is not the oppposite of Law or Torah. Gods grace actually teaches us the law as we see in Titus 2-12.

Go to Romans 4 The promise comes by faith so it may be grace and may be guaranteed to ALL ABRAHAMS OFFSPRING NOT ONLY TO THOSE WHO ARE OF THE LAW BUT AlSO TO THOSE WHO ARE OF THE FAITH OF ABRAHAM. HE IS THE FATHER OF US ALL.

Please go back and learn scripture, You are just so confused.

If you will not accept the N.T. and the O.T. There is nothing out there to help you. The Messianic Jews do claim it. they are comming more and more to God everyday. They have believed since Jesus.

I want everyone to see this web site, It is wonderful.
It is called Jewishvoice.org

Please go there, read it, then somehow you can see how mixed up you are. I truely hope this can help you, and not confuse you more then what you are. You are talking is so many circles I am dizzy I tell you:D. GOd be with you, and I pray you can find the truth you are seeking, But I will tell you now you will only find the FULLNESS OF THE TRUTH IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. THE CHURCH THAT PAUL SPOKE OF AND THE APOSTLES.

“I trust God’s Word. That is my security and where I find my salvation.”
That is really good for you. Most people haven’t found that security and are still searching.
I really have to wonder why you are here, spending so much time trying to convince us of your beliefs?? What is your agenda?? Really, most of us are just fine, and like you, feel that we have our security and salvation in GOD’s Word. We choose to believe that it comes to us through HIS son JESUS.
I would think that your time and efforts would be better served in convincing the Jews that “have been led astray”. Heaven knows that a lot of them really don’t know what they believe these days. They could really use your help in seting them back on the right path.

Why? If you are so secure in what you believe, then why not answer some of my inquiries that I have laid out in this thread since most of the others are ignoring them. I do not know if you have noticed, but I did not make this thread. I answered the question laid out by one of your fellow Catholics. Why ask the question if it was not meant to be answered? That would be the better question. If someone did not really want to know, then they should have never asked. I am trying to share my point of view via Scriptures and I am listening to the other points of view, though thus far, they are mostly opinions rather than Scripture.

Sheesh! why would you even post such a thing if you are sure that your faith is correct? And if it is, show me how via Scriptures please.

Again no disrespect but those are your words not the word of God. Paul was a apostle of Jesus Christ. Where did he get his authority by the Power of the Holy Spirit. God had picked Paul to preach is word, Paul did not pick Jesus. Please go back READ IT. ITs really in there, Paul was on his way to persecute the CHurch when Jesus shut him down. Turned his life around. Read Paul he told his people, believe me I was one of you he told them. BUt Jesus Christ revealed the truth to me. Paul was not alone, Jesus also revealed this to another Person REMEMBER who it was. Who was it simplynoone who helped Paul? Do you remember?👍

simplynoone,

I haven’t seen where any one has come up with a reply to you re: “JESUS” in the OT. It’s not there. The following will explain why. You obviously did not do your homework before going on this expadition.

Jesus
The word Jesus is the Latin form of the Greek Iesous, which in turn is the transliteration of the Hebrew Jeshua, or Joshua, or again Jehoshua, meaning “Jehovah is salvation.” Though the name in one form or another occurs frequently in the Old Testament, it was not borne by a person of prominence between the time of Josue, the son of Nun and Josue, the high priest in the days of Zorobabel. It was also the name of the author of Ecclesiaticus, of one of Christ’s ancestors mentioned in the genealogy, found in the Third Gospel (Luke 3:29), and one of the St. Paul’s companions (Colossians 4:11). During the Hellenizing period, Jason, a purely Greek analogon of Jesus, appears to have been adopted by many (1 Maccabees 8:17; 12:16; 14:22; 2 Maccabees 1:7; 2:24; 4:7-26; 5:5-10; Acts 17:5-9; Romans 16:21). The Greek name is connected with verb iasthai, to heal; it is therefore, not surprising that some of the Greek Fathers allied the word Jesus with same root (Eusebius, “Dem. Ev.”, IV; cf. Acts 9:34; 10:38). Though about the time of Christ the name Jesus appears to have been fairly common (Josephus, “Ant.”, XV, ix, 2; XVII, xiii, 1; XX, ix, 1; “Bel. Jud.”, III, ix, 7; IV, iii, 9; VI, v, 5; “Vit.”, 22) it was imposed on our Lord by God’s express order (Luke 1:31; Matthew 1:21), to foreshow that the Child was destined to “save his people from their sins.” Philo (“De Mutt. Nom.”, 21) is therefore, right when he explains Iesous as meaning soteria kyrion; Eusebius (Dem., Ev., IV, ad fin.; P.G., XXII, 333) gives the meaning Theou soterion; while St. Cyril of Jerusalem interprets the word as equivalent to soter (Catechetical Lectures X.13). This last writer, however, appears to agree with Clement of Alexandria in considering the word Iesous as of Greek origin (The Pedagogue III.12); St. Chrysostom emphasizes again the Hebrew derivation of the word and its meaning soter (Homily 2 on Matthew, No. 2), thus agreeing with the exegesis of the angel speaking to St. Joseph (Matthew 1:21).

Christ
The word Christ, Christos, the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew Messias, means “anointed.” According to the Old Law, priests (Exodus 29:29; Leviticus 4:3), kings (1 Samuel 10:1; 24:7), and prophets (Isaiah 61:1) were supposed to be anointed for their respective offices; now, the Christ, or the Messias, combined this threefold dignity in His Person. It is not surprising, therefore, that for centuries the Jews had referred to their expected Deliverer as “the Anointed”; perhaps this designation alludes to Isaias 61:1, and Daniel 9:24-26, or even to Psalms 2:2; 19:7; 44:8. Thus the term Christ or Messias was a title rather than a proper name: “Non proprium nomen est, sed nuncupatio potestatis et regni”, says Lactantius (Divine Institutes IV.7). The Evangelists recognize the same truth; excepting Matthew 1:1, 1:18; Mark 1:1; John 1:17; 17:3; 9:22; Mark 9:40; Luke 2:11; 22:2, the word Christ is always preceded by the article.

Only after the Resurrection did the title gradually pass into a proper name, and the expression Jesus Christ or Christ Jesus became only one designation. But at this stage the Greeks and Romans understood little or nothing about the import of the word anointed; to them it did not convey any sacred conception. Hence they substituted Chrestus, or “excellent”, for Christus or “anointed”, and Chrestians instead of “Christians.” There may be an allusion to this practice in 1 Peter 2:3; hoti chrestos ho kyrios, which is rendered “that the Lord is sweet.” Justin Martyr (First Apology 4), Clement of Alexandria (Stromata II.4.18), Tertullian (To the Nations II), and Lactantius (Divine Institutes IV.7), as well as St. Jerome (In Gal., V, 22), are acquainted with the pagan substitution of Chrestes for Christus, and are careful to explain the new term in a favourable sense. The pagans made little or no effort to learn anything accurate about Christ and the Christians; Suetonius, for instance, ascribes the expulsion of the Jews from Rome under Claudius to the constant instigation of sedition by Chrestus, whom he conceives as acting in Rome the part of a leader of insurgents.

The use of the definite article before the word Christ and its gradual development into a proper name show the Christians identified the bearer with the promised Messias of the Jews. He combined in His person the offices of prophet (John 6:14; Matthew 13:57; Luke 13:33; 24:19) of king (Luke 23:2; Acts 17:7; 1 Corinthians 15:24; Apocalypse 15:3), and of priest (Hebrews 2:17; etc.); he fulfilled all the Messianic predictions in a fuller and a higher sense than had been given them by the teachers of the Synagogue.

The above comes from the “Catholic Encyclopedia”.

I could be wrong but I believe that few Saints were students of the Testaments. They did not need proofs. They had ( here’s tha word again ) FAITH! Unforunately, not all receive the gift of faith.

The mans name was Ananias and the lord told him to do what, SImplynoone? Lay his hands upon Saul did he not. Brother Saul he said I have been sent by the LORD JESUS. That is quite different from Joseph Smith was it not. Did Joseph Smith have HOLY ORDERS. NO HE DID NOT. When a Priest is ordained he has hands put on him by another disciple of God. It is called giving them the Power of the Holy Spirit which is handed down by the laying of hands. How can you say that Paul ordained himself on his own power, when scripture clearly says the opposite. You told me you have read acts many of times. How did you miss this?

You are quiet correct hyflyer, Blessed are they who have not seen but still believe. We live by faith. Without faith our life is fruitless.👍

What are my words, Rinnie? Clarify please.

So, if I told you I had a vision of God and was enlightened to what He meant in the Word and was ordained to speak on His behalf, would I have the right to change things that were already declared by God? What about if I said that I was anointed with the Holy Spirit of God, could I add to the Word or substitute my own? Could I say God’s works were imperfect after they had already been declared perfect?

Isaiah 8:20 To the Law and to the Testimony: if they speak not according to these, there is no light in them.

Paul declared imperfect the Law that God had declared perfect. He said that it was abolished (I showed you that he said this directly) when God declared them eternal. He took the Testimony of the Prophets and inserted his words to bring forth new meaning to it… And he is the only one who actually heard this vision speaking and declaring him to be ordained. If I did this, you would be calling me more than a heretic and rightfully so.

I am speaking to the Law (which is my delight and my security) and the Testimony (which brings forth the understanding of God and has no need for interpretations of man)… and yet, you deny Isaiah 8:20 in favor of someone who is speaking against all of this? AND, though I AM posting up the Scriptures to prove that I am not claiming these things of myself, you still say I am.

I have shown this and Rinnie, you said that we would go through this Scripture by Scripture… yet, I brought up the obvious contradiction a few pages back and it still has not been fully discussed. All I am getting is “you are wrong” and “Paul is speaking on God’s authority”… (which Paul only SAID he is speaking on God’s authority… .Paul though is abolishing even the Law of God that was declared as perfect).

For the white kitten had been having its face washed by the old cat, for the last quarter of an hour (and bearing it pretty well, considering) so you see that it couldn’t have had any hand in the mischief.”

I can answer the question pure and simple simplynoone. Did Paul corrupt the teachings of God and create Christianity. Absolutely not. Paul taught the gospel of Jesus CHrist and Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior brought us Christianity. Pure and Simple. Jesus Christ is the RCC and he left it for us. With the Church we have the fullness of the Truth. There is no where else to search. We have the O.T. We have the N.T. and now we have the Church and the Holy Eucharist. That is all that is needed. 👍

Curiouser and Curiouser. Can you show me what it is you are replying to? I do not refer to it as OT and if I did, it was purely from being in a state of astonishment and failing to realize my mistake. I have posted quite a bit on this thread and so to have me guessing what it IS you are responding to is pointless… just tell me so I can respond to what you brought forth.

And I have told you time after time what law are you talking about. Paul never broke one of the ten commandments, THose were the laws of God. You are speaking of the law or traditions of Man, not of God. Again please show me one commandment that Paul broke. I asked you before. Again not the laws of tradition of man. Gods laws.

This is something that may shock you. This comes from a Jewish Faith.

Quote Paul (saul) was a good Jew as well, faithfull to Israel’s Torah and Faithful to Israels Messiah. His teachings are in complete harmony with the teachings of Jesus, despite the assertions of some authors who claim that Paul deviated from the pattern established by Jesus and his disciples. founding an alien new religion called Christianity. The consistent testimony of the New Testanent which includes the things Paul said about himself as well as the things said about him affirms this point. What was unique about Paul was his calling to spread the good news about Jesus to the Gentiles but even in this he passed on them the truths he had received as oppposed to creating his own innovations and always kepts Israels salvation foremost in his mind. unquote

So YOUR teaching are in no way what the Catholic Church teaches, or what the Jewish faith teaches, So what really more can I say, You feel that you know the OT and the NT and I am sorry you sure do not understand the teachings of Paul in the N,T, Your teachings are not the teachhings if the Church, Sure you can quote scripture, all day, ANd your scripture quote is correct. Its your intrepretation that is all screwed up.

I do not know what you want from us. What can we show or teach you that you do not know? For you seem to know it all.
The challenge, again, was laid down by one of your fellow Catholic Church goers. I DID NOT START THIS THREAD… I just did more than most who claim the contradictions of Paul and showed you the contradictions. As of yet, there has been no explanation except to say that Paul had the right to change things up based on his own word that God gave him the authority.

I am not trying to teach anything. I am trying to show you what I see and to understand how it is you can reconcile these VERY obvious contradictions.

God declared His Laws perfect and eternal… Paul declared them imperfect and abolished.

HOW ARE THESE CONCEPTS EVEN ABLE TO BE RECONCILED. How can they be so opposing and yet both be right? You are the ones making the claims they are… I am asking HOW you are coming to the conclusions that you are. All I am getting is so and so said this … so and so said … BUT it does not matter what so and so said… it matters what God said, no?

I have seen what your visions have taken you. You say that Paul ordained himself, it did not come from God, You continue to contradict scripture. Did you not? God know us by our fruits. You have showed me sour grapes 😃

Did you see that even the Jewish faith do not agree with you. They agree with the teaching’s of Paul.

So again on who’s authority do you speak of, Scripture proves that Paul was given the Power of the Holy Spirit,

No I am sorry God gave the laws the ten commandments. Again where did Paul teach us to disobey them?

You claim Paul abolished the LaW

Big misconception on your part may I add.
I am not just pulling the claim out of thin air though, Rinnie. 😊 Who wrote Ephesians because in Ephesians it says,

Eph 2:15
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

The writer of Ephesians said it… NOT ME!!! How is this MY fault? I am only asking how you are reconciling it when God said that they were perfect and eternal. Jesus said that anyone who breaks them or teaches others to break them is the least in the kingdom. THAT IS GOD AND JESUS speaking against Paul who claimed that they were abolished… NOT ME!!
