Paul leads GOP NH field 2016, Hillary leads Dems

Rick Santorum
Newt Gingrich
Mitt Romney
Rick Perry
Michelle Bachman
Ron Paul
Herman Cain
Jon Huntsman

Basically two flawed candidate with a lot of baggage - Romney and Newt. And a bunch of also rans.

2016:

Chris Christie
Marco Rubio
Bobby Jindal
Rand Paul
Paul Ryan
Scott Walker
Jeb Bush

I believe the above group is much more capable than the 2012 group.

I agree, Ishii. It looks like a pretty good group to me. That’s why I’m in a wait-and-see mode. As I mentioned earlier, I prefer governors. That said, Rubio, Ryan and Paul are no slouches.

Yes, its a higher caliber group of people compared to 2012 - when we had guys like Herman Cain, Michelle Bachman, Ron Paul, and Rick Perry mixed in with the guys with much baggage. I also think Scott Walker, Chris Christie, and Bobby Jindal are successful governors. Rubio and Paul are great. The only ones I’m not too keen on are Paul Ryan and Jeb Bush. Ryan because I don’t think he was very effective as a vice presidential candidate - especially against Biden. Too much the earnest policy wonk. Bush because his name is Bush, and I don’t think he’d win, and also because I’m not sure he takes our fiscal issues seriously enough. Rightly or wrongly, I associate him with “compassionate” conservatism - Democrat -lite big spenders.

Oh, let me guess - a Democrat catholic? What a surprise. I wonder how you reconsile your support for a party (and candidate Hillary) that is so at odds with Catholic moral teaching?

Actually I’m an independent. I think it is moral to provide food stamps and medical care to the poor.

Again,the glee in which fellow Catholics voice their support for liberal Dems,who are in direct conflict with the Doctrines of ourvCatholic faith.Every time read a post like this,it just reaffirms my belief that,party trumps faith for them.So sad and disturbing.😦

You’re going to have to say that in Spanish as there is a growing percentage of Hispanics in the U.S., estimated to be 1 out of 3 in 20 years. And roughly 65% of them are Catholic.

Just saying.

The Hispanics that vote Democrat are poorly informed re our government,most of the are staunchly pro life very family oriented. Admittedly,the Republicanschave not done a very effective job of getting their message to the Hispanic population,hopefully this will change with the ever growing Hispanic representation the Republicans hold in both senate and congress…just sayin’:

Just to be fair, *first generation *Hispanics tend to be prolife and Catholic. Generally within 2 generations they are just as morally corrupted as any other racial or social group in the US. Family size falls and abortion rates climb within that first few generations. Republicans might pick that block up, but not as long as Dems can continue painting conservatives as anti-immigrant.

I just laugh my head off when I consider that the RINO establishment that controls the GOP might actually listen to the democrats, such as the many in this thread, when they offer advice about who would be the best GOP candidate. Yeah that sounds real smart, listen to your opponent on which candidate to pick. :rolleyes:

Odds are though that the GOP establishment will make sure they do listen to this obviously well-intentioned advice from their opponents, pick another RINO candidate indistinguishable from the democrat, like McCain, and lose big time again when the conservative base doesn’t come out to vote for an exciting candidate who is actually conservative.

And then they’ll pretend to be shocked at the outcome, and listen to the democrats all over again.

Unless the Republucan establishment listen to their base,put forth a truly conservative candidate,I agree,nothing will change.

Well, if you look at '80 & 84 - the Republicans nominated a conservative and a moderate and won both times. I think the key is having a conservative heading the ticket, not a token conservative as vice president. I will also add that having a “mere conservative” i.e. one who is solidly conservative on the issues but a boring, uninspiring candidate will not win either. The candidate has to be a good communicator who can rise above the Democrat media spin machine and speak to the American people. I believe there is one out there - Rubio comes to mind. Possibly someone else. I don’t think Santorum ever fit that description.
