Sanders may run for president to stir debate

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Sanders

Sanders wants progressive 2016 presence

Does this mean that he thinks ā€œprogressiveā€ ideas won’t be represented in 2016? Like they will have been discredited by then - because of Obamacare, e.g. and the next crop of Democrat nominees will play up their ā€œcentristā€ nature? Interesting. I have no idea if that is what his angle is, but it makes sense to me. The question is, will Democrats need to move to the center, or will they be able to campaign based on their true ultra liberal, socialist-lite beliefs like they did in 2008 & 2012.

How about Anthony Weiner and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz? Both are well known icons in liberal circles. I imagine many liberal Catholics here would support this ticket before voting for Rubio, Bush, Jindal, or Christie.

So if the coronation of Hillary fails who will fill the void? The gov of NY - Cuomo? Cory booker? Bill Richardson? Or my favorite ticket: Anthony wiener & Eric holder ? (Wiener/holder 2012). Who is out there?

Cory Booker would be a great candidate, but not in 16- too young. I also want the guy to get married as I am concerned he might be gay which the US certainly isn’t going to go for.

I really respect Cory Booker.

Are you kidding that his being gay would hurt his chances?? Think about it - he could run on the platform : ā€œif you don’t vote for me then you’re as homophobic as the guy on Duck Dynasty.ā€ And not just homophobic - also racist. That would be the ultimate winning formula: nominate a candidate such that those who don’t vote for him can be branded as racist homophobes. A Hillary candidacy would surely pale in comparison. And the lack of experience wouldn’t hurt Booker either - as it didn’t seem to hurt Obama.

On a more serious note, I do think they are grooming Booker for higher office. I am not sure why you respect Booker, though.

The Los Angeles Times had an article about the possibility that Jerry Brown may consider a run for president. The problem here might be his age, although he seems pretty sharp as governor.

Tombstone, I don’t think a 78 year-old would be elected president. However sharp he/she is.

Booker supports legalising homosexual marriage and is pro abortion. I completely disagree that he would be a great candidate.
