None of that, but maybe extra wives in Utah? Nah. 😃
 no he didn’t!! Yesterday there was much talk about Ryan and the fact that he was Catholic…YAHOO…so I presented the question…“has anyone brought up the subject of Romney’s religion?”…I got slammed!!! That question is definately off limits here on this thread. I turn on the news and see a whole segment on Ryan’s Catholic Views…why can we talk about that all day but not touch Mormonism. Btw, I recall the big to do about Obama’s pastor last election cylce and being slung through the mud. Why not Romney too? Seems like a double standard to me. If we can’t talk about Romney’s religion, then don’t talk about Ryans. What do you think Rich?

Guess what, a thread titled “Paul Ryan” is for talking about Paul Ryan, not Mitt Romney. You want to talk about that, go ahead. Start a new thread.

They do not deny they want to cut Medicare. It must be done. Obama’s plan will cut Medicare by the same amount. The difference is, the cuts Obama makes will go back into stregthening Medicare. The cuts Ryan wants to make will just cut, that’s it. And please don’t forget he wants to add an additional 2 TRILLION DOLLARS in tax cuts for rich people.
Source for the 2 trillion claim?

Obama cuts the money then SPENDS it on another social program. If your boss cut your wages saying he’d “pay you back in another way” and hired another employee would you think your pay got cut or that its all the same because he’s still paying it out as wages?

They do not deny cutting Medicare or the tax cuts…they just spin the story to scare us into thinking that’s what we have to do. The question is not will Medicare get cut, it’s how! Don’t be deceived, the elderly will pay more under his plan. What about people under the age (which they will raise), where will they get their insurance. What about a concrete construction, self-employed man that cannot work until he’s 67 years old, what will he do for insurance?
Those are simply patently false Democratic liberal talking points that have been debunked time and time again for the last few days. Please do not listen to the lies.

God bless.

DeSanto;9648711 Seems like a double standard to me. If we can’t talk about Romney’s religion said:
A separate thread about each man’s religion might be best. The beliefs are beyond 180 degrees apart!

Sure. Step up your religious bigotry. Scream it out loud and proud. I’m sure you’ll win plenty of people to your viewpoint…not as many as you’ll repel, but go for it. 👍

Me? I’m a values voter. Romney shares my values, so his non-Catholic beliefs are of little concern. One of my former Bishops (Chaput) and cardinal Dolan have made it clear that Romney’s Mormonism is not a concern. I’ll go with their statements before I go with religious intolerance.

Again Paul you are so right. Jesus did teach us to take care of the poor, thus we always send money to the Catholic missions that feed the poor here and also one that feeds the poor overseas. The government has always helped, but it is not their responsibility, and with the shape we are in financially, they have to make many cuts. But they are not cutting Medicaid programs for the poor nor are they cutting Medicare at all. I listened last night to all the liberals telling the older people in Florida on the streets that Ryan is cutting Medicare to pieces, SO UNTRUE. Medicare stays the way it is unless you are under 55 and you may be able to get a voucher to buy your own insurance (your choice), but anyone over 65 on Medicare, it stays the same. I find the liberals turning the whole story around so that obama gets their votes. It is called lying to the people about so many issues. I hope the debates will straighten out all their intentions as the Democrats are desperate now and make false statements about Medicare and upset the elderly everywhere. I hope they all will listen to the truths told by Romney/Ryan at the debates. I can’t stand the lies and even when they are caught (like the lady that Romney killed with cancer, Romney was not even at Bain, it was 5 years later after the business went under, the woman had a new job and insurance & then died, and the whole commercial was a lie and proven so. They even used the husband in another commercial about something else. When proven it was untrue, Obama and his people said oh we have nothing to do with those ads, WRONG!! They made it all up to look like Romney’s business went bankrupt & the woman died without insurance, Totally not true, so you see what the other side is doing to try and win more votes. I swear Obama has an agenda if he wins, things will really change for the worse.
So lying is not the way to win an election of any kind. Paul are you in NY? You speak of Cardinal Dolan who I really like a lot, we are in upstate NY. Watch Fox for the real news and they go over the lying ads of Obama. It is so sad to see this happen.
Jsmith,

No, I am not in NY. Cardinal Dolan is the pre-eminent Roman Catholic prelate in the U.S. though and as such, he is the face of U.S. Catholicism. I too was a fan of Cardinal Dolan, and still obviously respect the man, but his recent invite to Mr. Obama to the Al Smith Dinner as an occasion of massive scandal for the Church. Couple that with his presiding over the openly homosexual mass at St. Francis Xavier last year, and Cardinal Dolan has been incredibly disappointing recently. All that is tangential to the thread, however, and wouldn’t stay on topic. Please feel free to send me a private message to discuss that further if you would like.

God bless.

Mormons have odd beliefs, that’s for sure. But his religious views wouldn’t have much bearing on his ability to be President.

Exactly. Values matter, because they shape your decisions. Religious views don’t.

I can understand your points to a degree…

However, please look at it from the other side. Many people who work, have sacraficed, and pay taxes are scandalized and become disenfranchised when they see this sort of thing. Many of us do without large screen TV’s and Xboxes and what not.
I agree. The post about how poor people have tv’s and microwaves was sooo insulting. It’s not like they have to buy a new tv everyday like they do food for their children. T.v.'s and microwaves can be purchased at peddler’s malls, xbox’s could have been a christmas present. These things last. Food on the other hand can be hard to come by when you’re out of money until the next paycheck, if you’re lucky enough to even get that. A truck? my husband has a truck, his work truck. That truck is our lively hood. If that truck breaks down he doesn’t go to work. We go without when the truck needs fixing. My kids have had to put off their birthdays before because we have no money. And they are more understanding than some people here on this thread. Reading some of these threads hurts my heart. If we are broke, the tv bill is the first to go unpaid (no flat screens btw, digital converter box is our back up, which btw, we got at a discount price thanks to you know who). I wonder if Romney has ever had to plan which bill goes unpaid first?

One could say if you cannot afford your cable bill, you do not get cable.

Funny you bring up Dolan. He also made it very clear that the Ryan budget was immoral.
The entire US Conference of Bishops as a matter of fact.

Please, I was taken wrong. I was not saying “Hey!! I’m a religious biggot!!” at all 🙂 that’s funny. WOW! I’m just asking why the double standard. Talking about Ryan’s religion is fine but not Romneys, why?

I find it extremely insulting, but for a different reason. We are told that trillions of tax dollars are going to “help the poor” only to find many of the “poor” have a higher standard of living than the working.

Why should Romney be telling you which bill you should pay first or last? Shouldn’t that be your own plan?

hint - that was debuked quite some time ago.

Well, because sometimes we can. We don’t live on weekly paychecks. We are self-employed seasonal business owners. The money is very unpredictable. If we did not have 6 children to support, maybe we wouldn’t worry so much about making sure we have food in the house. That’s the thing. Everyone is different, with different stories. You cannot say all people on food stamps just need to get a job.

“Debunked” not debuked. Point being, debate on these issues between Catholics is not unheard of. don’t have a specific quote on me, I’ll get one for ya!! Don’t forget the Catholic Nuns that are now also being persecuted for having a difference of opinion.
