I believe the word youâre looking for is âtax havenâMitt Romney was reporting his Swiss account to the federal government, so your allegation that he was using it to hide assets has zero basis in fact. Further, Swiss bank accounts are hardly shady, there are many reasons why Swiss banks are good options for holding liquid assets.
Close. âLegal tax havenâI believe the word youâre looking for is âtax havenâ
Really? Itâs not going to change my vote for Romney.Nancy Pelosi has overseas investments
Debbie Wasserman Schultz has money in a Swiss account
Valerie Jarrett has money in Bermuda
And itâs alleged that Dick Durbin also has money in Switzerland
didnât say it was illegal. Taking advantage yes!Close. âLegal tax havenâ![]()
AKA free enterprisedidnât say it was illegal. Taking advantage yes!
So what? Why should anyone pay a dime more in taxes than he owes? Iâm a CPA and when I was in the Tax Department at AA&Co, we went through every possible way to LEGALLY reduce taxes. Why do you think this is either sinful or shady? Frankly if someone as sophisticated as Romney DIDN"T take advantage of tax provisions that reduce their liability Iâd wonder at his competence.didnât say it was illegal. Taking advantage yes!
Iâm responding just to say I refuse to respond to this type of bsâŚbecause thatâs what it isâŚall this stuff has been rehashed over and over again and you are wasting our time and yours by believing the Democratic talking point/conspiracy theory ****. Do yourself a favor and look up the actual facts.**Matt 25:34-36 "Then the King will say to those on his right, `Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.â **

5:1 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. 4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. 5 You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were not opposing you. **
Unbelievable,Paul Ryan believes in a godless elitists society and considers selfishness a virtue. Anyone who accepts the GOP corporate takeover of America and what this means to America has down the research to have an informed opinion. If you are Catholic/Christian who cannot accept the platform of either party and must sit this election out. Just Google Paul Ryan and Ayn Rand

Voting for Ron Paul is a wasted vote for Mr. Obama.lol at voting for anyone other than ron paul
A subject worthy of debate, yet pales in comparison to the issue of abortion. A Catholic cannot vote for a pro-abortion candidate, period. Very simple.Romney, Ryan, and many Catholics support Americaâs ongoing, unjust wars. Why? None of Americaâs wars meets standard of Catholic just war theory. The wars are criminal, and the people we have killed have been murdered in the eyes of God.
and a vote for Romney is a vote for Obama, and Bush and Clinton, or are you unaware that they have almost the same exact policiesVoting for Ron Paul is a wasted vote for Mr. Obama.
God bless.

also a vote for ron paul is a vote for freedom liberty and the constitution brahVoting for Ron Paul is a wasted vote for Mr. Obama.

First of all, thatâs not true. Second of allâŚyour comments are completely off topic of the thread. If youâd like to discuss the merits of Ron Paul vs Mitt Romney, you are more than welcome to begin your own thread on that topic. However, this is not the place to engage in this debate.and a vote for Romney is a vote for Obama, and Bush and Clinton, or are you unaware that they have almost the same exact policies
no way you are srs. abortion is more serious then the state of our economy, unending wars and attacks on civil liberties. mind blownA subject worthy of debate, yet pales in comparison to the issue of abortion. A Catholic cannot vote for a pro-abortion candidate, period. Very simple.
God bless.

Really? Itâs not going to change my vote for Romney.
I imagine Bush and Cheney are still counting the billions they acquired during his administration. Itâs all in cash and being stuffed into boxes marked TOP SECRET, and addressed to the Bush Presidential Library.
Peace,
Ed
DeSanto since you quoted your entire post itâs not easy to respond line by line but here goesâŚwho is âSlim Shady?â As to the ârealâ Mitt Romney, he has lived a very consistent life, long marriage, great family, success in every endeavor in which he partakes. A reputation for solving problems, for being able to focus on problems, great integrity. What are you looking for?
I am looking for someone how can relate to us simple folk, who has a clue what it means to sacrifice and do without and struggle to survive. I want someone who is going to consider everyones interest in this country. Heâs not concerned about the poor, they have their safety nets, right? Or will they? I donât know. I donât know what he stands for. I do know he flip flops on every issue to suit his agenda which to me seems to gain as much power as is humanly possible. I donât relate to him. I donât trust him. Thatâs it.
Maybe he bites his nails or dyes his hair? I canât figure out your objection other than its based on campaign rhetoric from the Dems.
The reason the tax returns are âa big dealâ is that the Dems have nothing to run on so they are creating a F.U.D. campaignâŚfear, uncertainty, and doubt instead of telling us about their accomplishments. I think Romneyâs a very private person who doesnât want the campaign to be based on a line by line analysis of his returns instead of the issues. Frankly given the hateful, cruel and irrelevant focus on various elements of the returns he disclosed, I donât blame him for saying this is it and no more.
Whatever. The history of showing your returns goes all the way back to his father. Donât go there. If he had nothing to hide heâd show them. Heâs hiding the fact he pays lower rates than the average working class secretary does. Donât deny it.
As to why Romney puts money in a Swiss bank account, why do you presume there is something shady about it? As I think Denise posted, there are many in the Obama administration with money in foreign bank accounts. Many Americans have investments in foreign countriesâŚheck the Obama administration keeps sending our money overseasâŚcan we say Fiskar? Itâs clearly been disclosed so this is not exactly a secret. I just canât fathom your deep abiding interest in Romneyâs personal business. Is there anything in his life that would indicate heâs corrupt or dishonest?
He evades questions, he refuses to talk about anything specific, he denies everything. Shady! Just look at his responses today about the Ryan Budget heâs already backing off acting like he doesnât really know all the specifics. He even said he doesnât read his own tax returns before he signs them. I just cannot ignore these red flags no matter how much I dislike Obama.
Who cares if the rates are higher or lower now vis a vis prior years? High taxes are associated with stifled growth and tax avoidance schemes. Why do you believe high tax rates are a good thing? Are you aware that John Kennedy reduced taxes? And it proved to be hugely successful in improving the economy. Ditto with the Reagan tax cuts. Wouldnât we all like to be back in those days with low unemployment and a booming economy. Further while people donât resent paying taxes so much as they resent the money being wasted. Why should we feed the beast?
Yeah and Bush squandered away a surplus that Clinton left. Wish we could redo those Bush years huh!
You may not be a Democrat but you regurgitate Democrat talking points. And I am sorry for the extra âsâ it was merely a typo. You seem to care a lot about really extraneous things that wonât create a single job or improve the lives of Americans.
**
I guess I feel some of those talking points have merit. I guess Iâm just not sold on the illusion that Romney is going to make it all better.**
