I do not know if I am not explaining myself well, or you are just refusing to understand the point of this thread. Either way, may the Lord’s peace be with you.
You asserted and gave a “warning” to people that visit Europe that “most” churches and cathedrals require a fee.

I have never encountered a fee at ANY church in Europe, even to pray. You have an example of 3 churches, all in one country. Two of them have provisions for people to pray/attend mass.

The third is not a parish church but one owned by a private foundation and ecclesial association. Many churches belonging to religious orders are not open to the public. Sagrada Familia is a similar case. It doesn’t have daily mass. It is owned by a foundation. They don’t make it available to the general public.

You cannot assert that this is “most of Europe”. It’s not. It is 3 churches in Spain.

Sigh…. we are in an argumentative mood.

I stopped at three since the news article already covered what I was saying. When I visited…Milan Cathedral, San Lorenzo Florence, Reims Cathedral, Se Cathedral….there’s quite a bit more, its just a matter of doing your research before you go.

There’s even something on news: France should copy the UK and charge cathedral visitors, says Macron's 'Mr Heritage'

And I am not here to convince you, I opened the thread to whinge and ask why things are done this way. Father gave me an answer I could understand. You don’t believe me? No worries mate…move on to another thread. Peace.

That’s probably the ideal, but maintaining centuries old structures isn’t cheap especially in countries with a declining catholic population.
