Except for the communion on the tounge thing that’s pretty standard fare in New England. Many parishes also empty holy water fonts and keep vials in the sacristy if someone wants some.
People are dying…it would be irresponsible to approach a crowd of elderly with anything but extreme caution.
Honestly, I have gotten a cold 3-4 days after mass 3 of the last weekends I’ve attended. Kids get sick, too. Given the chances of it being something more serious like RSV…(a healthy adult would only experience a minor cold, but it can easily kill a small child) I am seriously considering not attending Mass until this season of illness passes.
It’s terrible this year…truly frightening for tots and elderly.
