You know, ultimately I am not sure if the poor deacon that was distributing Communion had been given the authority to negate to anybody who approached him Holy Communion.

The fault remains on the side of the one who approaches Holy Communion without a proper disposition.

And also it’s not up to us to discuss the life, virtues, and sins of others. That’s between Mr. Biden, Ms. Pelosi, and their respective confessors.

Very wise post. I cannot contest your arguments one iota. 👍

The Pope did not distribute communion. There were 200+ priests and deacons who distributed to everyone in the crowd.

From what I read on another source is that it is standard practice to not deny communion to anyone at a Mass that involves delegates from other countries. (Not sure how accurate this is)

Not sure why anyone is surprised. They both flout church teaching at every opportunity.

They did not recieve Communion from Pope Francis

If Biden and Pelosi recieved Communion not in a state of grace they have profaned the Eucharist and damaged their souls by commiting mortal sin by taking the Eucharist

I think pro abortion and pro gay marriage politicians who claim to be Catholic continue to promote these because they think they can get away it without repercussions. In Biden’s hometown of Scranton, PA, Bishop Joseph Martino said Biden would be denied Communion because he supported abortion, but in Wilmington, Delaware and in Rome, Biden was allowed Communion. It is possible that the person who gave Communion to Biden and Pelosi did not know their position on abortion and marriage because it is a different country but there is a lack of consistency in how Bishops and Priests act on this issue

Hope Pope Francis, given his opposition to pro abortion politicians reciving Communion, does something to stop these politicians who support abortion being given Communion

It doesn’t matter if they received from the Pope himself, another priest or a deacon. It was at the Vatican at a Papal mass and their dissent is publicly well documented and long standing. It’s not like no one knows. This situation brings scandal to the church.

I am so very disappointed that our church allows these situations to happen. I wish that we protected the eucharist similar to how the Orthodox Church does. My Orthodox friends tell me how even when they travel they bring a letter of introduction from their parish priest and that they meet with the priest before liturgy so he knows who they are and can verify they are properly disposed to receive.

All I can muster is a huge sigh for a variety of reasons.
Understood. It is not for me to judge, but all Catholics should determine whether they’re in a sufficient state of grace before receiving Holy Communion. Only Biden and Pelosi knew the state of their souls before receiving the sacrament.

True that.

I think your disappointment is wrongly placed.

It should be squarely on both Biden and Pelosi for doing what they know is wrong and putting there Church in a bad spot. I think it is impossible to instruct every deacon, priest or EM to not give communion to this one, and that one and this one. It’s an impossible task at a Mass of this size, not to mention the disruption it would cause.

But I will say, the day is coming that folks like our VP and Speaker will be denied communion. It will happen, because it has to happen. Our Church must take back the sanctity of Communion…

Thanks, it’s always good to be reminded of that, and hopefully they visit the penalty box as often as we all should.

I see what you are saying, but as to your last comment…I’m not so sure anymore.

I completely agree with you.

We should also consider that just because we Americans are aware of their stand on life issues doesn’t mean that every priest who distributed communion even knows who they are. I agree with the other poster…they should not be presenting themselves for communion if they are not in a state of grace. Neither should we…😊

Actually it’s not impossible at all. This was a mass with very high security and everyone would have been repeatedly ID checked and had assigned seating and an assigned EM. We are not talking about the average anonymous person that just showed up at any Catholic mass.

Ironically if you show up as just some anonymous person at an a random Orthodox church you will be denied the eucharist.

I find this confusing. The day is coming you say when they will be denied communion. But you also said you think “it is impossible to instruct every deacon, priest or EM to not give communion to this one, and that one and this one”. And that it’s an impossible task at Masses of a certain size. And not to mention the disruption it would cause you said.
