Pelosi and Biden receive Communion at the Vatican

I heard one of the commontators on EWTN say before the Innaugral Mass that communion would not be given to anyone who was pro-choice…and Pope Francis would not be distributing the eucharist, however he did distribute I believe to our Eastern Catholic Priest.

Let’s say, for arguments sake that Biden and Polosi went to confession…that’s fine, however my understanding is…once you confess your mortal sin, you are not to do it again… Let’s say they confessed that they have advocated pro-choice positions and the priest absolves them…well then they are to reject that position and not return to it!!!

My daughter, who is catholic, but not married in the church cannot recieve…she can go to confession and be absolved, but she knows fully well that she is going to continue to sleep with her husband…so there is no point in being absolved and if the priest knows you’re going to continue in that sin, he won’t absolve you…she needs to fix her marriage…and there is nothing hindering her from doing it except her own laziness…please pray for her…she does love her catholic faith…

This is my understanding, and if I’m wrong please correct me…

It doesn’t matter if they received from the Pope himself, another priest or a deacon. It was at the Vatican at a Papal mass and their dissent is publicly well documented and long standing. It’s not like no one knows. This situation brings scandal to the church.

I am so very disappointed that our church allows these situations to happen. I wish that we protected the eucharist similar to how the Orthodox Church does. My Orthodox friends tell me how even when they travel they bring a letter of introduction from their parish priest and that they meet with the priest before liturgy so he knows who they are and can verify they are properly disposed to receive.
This is true but in general the Orthodox parishes I’ve been to (to be fair only 3 or 4) are small and it is easier to spot someonne who isn’t a regular member. Roman Catholic parishes tend to be much larger and the priests dont know everyone.

Another poster mentioned they might have gone to confession. But am I correct to assume as faithful Catholics you don’t believe when Biden and Pelosi prayed the words about not being worthy but to only say the word, that you don’t believe God did?

So, they have shown themselves to be hypocrites as well as death peddlars. Real Catholics should be able to see them for what they are.

I’m surprised the Vatican didn’t warn them in advance that they shouldn’t present themselves for Communion. If there is any fault here on the part of the Church, it lies with the Church’s diplomats rather than the priest distributing Communion.

I am almost positive you are correct.

Haha well you don’t need to worry about me going easy. Your post reminded me though of something Pope Francis talked about in his homily I believe it was Sunday. He spoke about how none of the people cast a stone at the adulteress after Jesus told them he without sin was to cast the first one. They walked away without throwing one stone. And then Jesus Himself did not condemn her but just told her, as you suggested, to sin no more. But here was the kicker. Pope Francis then went on to say, BUT in a month or so people sin again. And yet Jesus is always merciful.

Are you suggesting when they said “Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be heald?”…I don’t think that qualifies if your under mortal sin…murder, or supporting it is mortal sin…mortal sin seperates us from God…

Once again, this is my understanding and am open for correction…

Mortal sin means going to confession…before profaning the body and blood of our Lord

Teresa, weren’t you talking about going to confession and confessing a mortal sin with no intention of amending yourself?

Yes, Jesus is always merciful and we are always sinners…dang fallen human nature…lol

With love of our Lord we can overcome our deadly sins…by stopping them before they happen…I have a few I need to confess now…YIKES and all because of pride and anger…the anger calmed, but things just happened…I stand guilty…and yes He already knows I am sorrowful…; )

Here is my understanding and how it came to be…13 years ago our priest during the homily talked about these 2 young boys that kept coming to confession, week after week to confess the same sin, in which was swearing. After Father had heard the same confession week after week from these same 2 brothers (keep in mind they were young) he finally told them both “Don’t come back and confess swearing until you’ve given it up”…so Father continued on saying that if you arn’t truly sorry for your sin and you know you are going to repeat it over and over again then you arn’t truly sorry…at least that is how I remember it, It was many years ago…

Sorry about droning on…but yes, that was what I meant…

No I think you’re correct. That it doesn’t qualify in the Catholic Church after praying those words, even if one feels healed or called, that they are to receive. They’re still not to receive.

I don’t know how many people go to confession without the intention of amending themselves. But that was the point of what Pope Francis said in that recent homily. They might well confess having good intentions of sinning no more. But in the Pope’s words in a month or so, people do sometimes sin again. And yet Jesus is always there. Not condemning. But being merciful.

This completely undermines any efforts of American bishops/priests who request Catholic politicians who promote abortion refrain from receiving the Eucharist. Very hypocritical IMO.
