So Nancy Pelosi should be publically excommunicated while not one priest who commited sexual abuse, was excommunicated.

You realize few accept Church teaching on moral issues these days?

Pelosi Vows to Stand With Obama Against Catholic Church; Says Decision Forcing Catholics to Act Against Faith Was ‘Very Courageous’

When is enough enough?
An editorial in the Washington Post,1/30/12, uses the word “betrayal” in discussig Catholic Joe Biden’s role in this HHS regulation. “Betrayal is always an inside job.” writes non Catholic Michael Gerson.

And what do we think about the more than half of Catholics who voted for Obama and the huge percentage who still support him? Someone said that liberalism comes first to liberals and their religion last. Any arguments?..not from me.😊

Those who do not accept the teachings of the Church are heretics.

Definition of HERETIC

1
: a dissenter from established religious dogma; especially : a baptized member of the Roman Catholic Church who disavows a revealed truth.

If many who consider themselves to be in the Church, dissent from her teachings on moral issues, they have all become heretics.

Not to make light on sexual abuse but, supporting the murder of millions (the murder of the innocent), preaching heresy (in which she endangers souls (in heresy, the souls of many are killed, that is why it is considered worse than murder)), and declaring yourself an enemy of the Church (which she has done with this action), this trifecta together is much worse.

She should be excommunicated Becket-style.

Do priest who abuse kids accept the teachings of the Cathoic Church?

I’m not arguing in favor of Nancy Pelosi’s statements here, but for her Bishop who’s job it is, to help her back to the faith

Jim

Well we could talk about the Priest sexual abuse…however the subject that was introduced was concerning the ‘politicians’ i.e. Pelosi as in the Heading of the OP in view of the recent Conscience Clause issues. I for one do not want to be distracted from that.

Ergo I would suggest that anyone that refuses to repent of serous sin be excommincated officially as they already excommunicated themselves spiritually with mortal sin - yes?

Pray for Bishops such as Saint Thomas Becket, Saint Thomas Moore and all the other martyrs who stood on Faith against the prevailing heresies of their day. We need Bishops who lead by example. and a few Anathemas would go a long way in re-awakening the Lay Faithful.

If Pelosi goes to church, she must go somewhere in D.C. even her home parish was in CA.
I hope whoever is the priest gives out Eucharist would just bless her and not hand the Eucharist to her. But she may goes to a Eucharistic minister, or she probably does not attend Mass.
But regardless, she should be officially excommunicated to have the Church’s position clear.
Too bad I am not the bishop.
In the District, she probably goes to St. Peter’s on the Hill. St. Joseph’s is also on the Hill, but is down by the Senate offices… St. Peter’s is right by the House Office Building.

I feel sorry for her. She seems so clueless. Firmly pro-abortion, supportive of Obama’s attack on religion. I can’t for the life of me figure how she even puts all this together in her mind as compatible with Catholicism. You can support evil or oppose it, but not do both at the same time.

Not unlike Gandalf the Gray to Saruman: “Tell me, “friend”, when did Saruman the Wise abandon reason for madness?”

Thus is the result of willful sin methinks.

Sad indeed. Interesting I found myself praying for this woman yesterday… Yes it is time we *raid *the coffers of the evil one to retieve our own - yes?

I am curious why her Bishop has not excommunicated her yet. Doesn’t he see what her words, and the words of other Catholics who publicly disobey the doctrine, do to Catholics who actually take their faith seriously and want the attacks on the Church to stop?

Pelosi is too full of herself to be obedient to the Church and her Bishop. I put this on the Bishop for not giving her the ultimatum to either obey Church teaching or go and find another Christian denomination to disrespect.

The combination of the Pelosis of the world and a Bishop who refuses to give these people the “It’s my way or the highway” ultimatum is what makes our Church look weak and confused; and the lack of any public reprimand for the high profile people who pervert Church teaching is what infuriates and saddens Catholics who obey Church law and don’t want to see Pelosi, et al, get away with making such a mockery of Catholicism.

No. Pelosi, Biden, and all Catholics who refuse to obey Church teaching should be given a chance to correct themselves. If they refuse to do so, they should be gone from the Catholic Church.

Mrs. Pelosi is giving terrible scandal and needs to be publicly rebuked by the Catholic Church for her outrageous stances.
I agree 100%! but I she won’t be sanctioned. She gets away with whatever she wants CONSTANTLY!

She never supports life. She is a tool of the evil one. She has no confusion, she is not clueless.
She does all these by design and with a purpose - to destroy the Church. Pretending being a Catholic and confusing the public that her position represents the Catholics’ position, is very sly and effective to those liberal Catholics. She, claims to be a Catholic, shows the ignorant public that Catholics are for abortion which is simply a lie. How does she put all these together? With a clear cut goal of destroying the freedom of religion in general and ruining the Catholic faith in particular.

Beats me!
Unfortunately, and they were discussing this on Rush’s show today, too many in the hierarchy want access to the corridors of power in Washington. So they are reluctant to do anything dramatic.

Lots of non-Catholics called up and said if Ms. Pelosi was a member of a conservative Protestant church she would have been kicked out a long time ago.

Aside from abortion and contraception, the bishops are pretty much spokepeople for the Democrat position on immigration, taxes, military spending… I think that’s the reason they won’t do anything about Pelosi and others.

BTW, on Friday Imans from 200 mosques in texas had harsh words about the bill and talked about non-violent civil disobedience if it is enforced agains them. In the end I wouldn’t be surprised to see Muslims exempted from the regulations.

The purpose of excommunication isn’t to punish, but to help the person see the errors in their way and in so doing, reform and return to the faith.

A private meeting would do more than a public excommuication.

Pray for Nancy Pelosi

Jim

How many children were affected by the abusive priests vs. the public advocation of abortion by “Catholic” polticians.

Does the morality depend on the arithmatic?

Fact is, those abused by priest were harmed deeply and the Church has been dealt a great blow when it comes to having any moral credibility in the public eye.
