i’m with you, bob. if it were the case of a single politician then i might defer to mlc chance’s argument, but we all know there’s an entire class of politicians out there who need to be disciplined. and they are not limited to one single party.

as i said before, if they aren’t making a good faith effort to follow the church’s teachings, then they should drop the charade that they are catholics in anything but name. it’s a matter of principle.

is it possible the bishop has intervened in a private manner, but his advice has not been heeded? or that the bishop does not want to rankle a powerful parishioner within his diocese?

I can think of lots of reasons to vote Rep. Pelosi out of office, and not a bit of it has to do with what her bishop may or may not have said to her.

It was speculation born of general experience. Not presumption. But of course you will believe as you wish.

As my youngest child is nearly 30, you would be wrong.

I don’t have a need to have the last word, as you have speculated, nor am I anxious about anything, except perhaps the fires that are currently burning out of control where I live, but I will stand up for myself. Having said that, I am going to end this by taking my own suggestion and using the ignore feature. Have a nice life. 👍

Same here. What’s to be afraid of? If you read something and your immediate thought is, “what a moron!” did it hurt to have to read what the “moron” wrote? At least you know what that person is about, and can ignore or respond as you want.

It was the responses to those on the ignore list that drove me nuts. You were only seeng one side of the conversation.

I see. I believe in confronting everything even if it may be distasteful, so I don’t find any advantage in ignoring people. Your explanation makes sense.
 
Thanks Tomarin. I appreciate your prayers. So far, I have been very lucky, at least personally. I appear to have lost a tree to the wind, but maybe not, we’re going to do what we can to save it. It’s difficult to breathe and we’re going to have a big mess to clean up, but so far I’m not subject to evacuation and I’m not in danger of losing my home. We all need to pray for those who are in great danger right now.

And, as far as I am concerned, those immediate concerns trump the subject of this thread. But it’s also a bit chatty I suppose so this should be my last post along those lines.
