confession to a priest is biblical, so I dont know what you mean by “catholic tradition”
Dont get me wrong, I agree it’s catholic tradition, a tradition that can be found in the bible, and that catholics abide by.
Now I am going off topic, so I will let it be.

Im only recognizing the fact that to Catholics this is the way its done, thus tradition.

I find myself inbetween a odd conversation with you and Lily. You said you can confess to God then a priest, Lily seems to contridict that, so Im not sure what to think.

I also posted what I understand as far as confession goes, I also hope to show you all its not as simple as one would imagine and the sorrow that Lily speaks of and actual repentance happens.

It starts with confessing to the Lord (as you said) and then working out “what to do” about it or penance as I was speaking to Grateful about, trying to understand penance.

Thats what Im getting so far, hope thats clear. 🙂

LOL! I guess I was just as stunned when I read Lily’s reply, as if she was saying I forgot we ought to follow up with confession, and I mentioned I would ASAP, so I let it go and chalked it up to a pre senior moment on my part…

but I dont think Lily was contradicting me, she was merely stating what the process is to clarify.

As far as penance goes, I dont see any problem with your viewpoint particularly, but I think the act of going to confession itself, shows a pentinant heart. Its submitting to what has been revealed in the bible.

Does that make it clearer or fuzzier?

Oh good, that makes sense what you said about you and Lily, sorry Lily we were confused! :o

On penance (I dont know if you read back a bit) I was trying to understand penance, I didnt think of “doing something” about what you confess penance, but Im thinking perhaps it is. Problem is I have to put it into words I understand to understand Gratefuls words, hope that isnt fuzzy 😃

So you think we were onto some sort of a idea then??

If so then its just the final idea of how to confess and thats probably another thread. 🙂

I agree, its another thread. But, one I would like to see if it gets going!🙂

Always a pleasure to chat with you Kitty.

yes, they are taling about espicoal and communion and confession and penance and Im seeing there is links between it all. Im starting to see it all starts with confession and how one confess leads to penance and communion or Eucharist.

Theres a mouthful for a thread. 🙂
