someone used to pay a $1 bill in pennies here and she didn’t have to counted it. not many just 100 pennies

This is a funny thread. When I was in High School I worked at fast food and many would come to the drive through with ashtrays FULL of change, and when they paid in all coins I wouldnt even waste the time counting it, I would just ask them how much they handed me and I would ring it up. They must have been telling me the truth because my cash drawer never came up short at the end of the day.

I figured we needed a bit of “lightening up”…and it just struck me so funny when I first read it. I could just see the judge smiling as he told the guy he’d have to stick around.

I think that’s a great story – our local little neighborhood restaurant has a small dish with assorted change in case you’re short trying to pay the bill evenly – when you have a penny or two or a nickel coming back, most drop it in the dish. It’s been working great for years too.

Jut to lighten the day…

A man who tried to get even by paying a traffic ticket with $120 in pennies got upstaged by a North Dakota judge who made him stay until they were counted.

I have paid (as a protest) my property taxes in rolled coins (dimes, nickles and pennies) I have also paid a ticket using pennies…I was told I had to count the rolls and write my name and account # on them…the account number in case I short changed one of the rolls…I did not have to count the coins in the rolls but the person taking the fine (coins) counted them so I could get an accurate reciept 😃

I guess as long as the coin states it’s from the U.S, it still legal tender. Whether you pay by check or wheelbarrow load, it’s still money!

Wasn’t there a story a few months ago, that a guy cashed in thousands of dollars of coins in one of those automatic coin sorting machines? I know they said it was eleven trashcans full of pennies!

Would be nice if someone told The NJ Turnpike that…you are not allowed to pay with change, even though it is LEGAL TENDER!!!

I call that the “got a penny, give a penny, need a penny, get a penny” cup… now, try to say that really fast,😃

We have a pay road that is $1 for the total length of 14 miles. It charges $.25, $.50 and $.75 to get off or on at most of the exits depending on direction traveling unless you have to go through the main gate. At the main gate it is $1 no matter how far you have traveled or will travel. So since the enterance I use is the main gate and the exit I use is only one mile up the road it costs me the full $1.
Must admit I always use change (it won’t take paper) and add 2 cents to the fee. I do this as a protest and it causes them to count the recount (by machine not hand) the money at the end of the day. It is just like telling them my “2 cents worth.” LOL

My bank forces us to do this – each roll has to be “autographed” ----
