The victim didn’t wait. In the report on the indictments which I’m making my way through, many victims did report in a timely fashion but they were treated dismissively, punished, including really lame attempts at discrediting the victim/witness, it was suggested that no real harm was done. They were treated like crap.
Do you still want to ask why victims don’t report or take a long time to do so?
Now there’s a false equivalency if I’ve ever heard one. Priest molesting children is a question of corruption of power plain and simple. Marriage has nothing to do with the 80% or more of abuse cases involving priests and young boys.
Somebody please get a clue!
