You interpret the bible through your tradition making the bible subject to your tradition, making tradtion the final authority. Not so hard to understand really.
You interpret the Bible through Protestant or should I say Fundamentalist tradition. As every protestant is his own magisterium and believes in his own infallibility that’s why there are 10,000,20,000,30,000(pick a number) different denominations within protestantism proving that the Holy Spirit does not guarantee inerrancy to ANY individual but only to the Church founded by Christ-the Catholic Church.

Hi everyone. I have recently gotten involved a little bit with a Pentecostal Church. I have not decided to leave the Catholic Church but I am having doubts about the Catholic Church. The Pentecostal Church just seems to be so Biblical! Can you please show me why the Pentecostal Church is wrong? I know that they do not have a valid Eucharist and that is probably the main reason why I have not left the Catholic Church. Please help!

The first rule of biblical interpretation is let the bible interpret the bible.

I am not infallible. I know that. The trouble with your position is that you presume it to be infallible.

You yourself are in error. God works through each individual one heart at a time until all of His elect have been called. I doubt anyone would disagree there are a million different interpretations; not only among Protestants, but also within your own religion and others. This forum can bear that out.

So the question is why? How does one actually know how to interpret Scripture? Is there but one true teacher? It is the resident Holy Spirit; which only dwells in the elect. He is also the one that leads His elect to the truth of His word.

There are more people out there who profess to know Jesus; than there are those that actually do; this is why the “natural man” cannot discern the simple truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is why you will see many different interpretations.

Rather than being so concerned about his or her interpretation; you better know if your understanding of Scripture is correct; if it is not, then you have a very serious problem.**

**I believe you are joking about leaving the Catholic Church and are trying to through out some bait for whatever reason.

But to humor you; what type of Pentecostal Church is it? Remember there are at last count on this forum 38K plus denominations and within the Pentecostals, they are also subdivided; somewhat like the Catholic Church is with Latin rite etc.**

After dropping a horrendous and unChristian insult on me claiming that I did not know God and could not have an infilling of the Holy Spirit you fled another thread.Oh, and you also advised that you had been “warned” about me.In other words you passed judgement upon me-something that only God has the right to do,and you DARE to address me?

I request that you apologise before I spend any effort in replying to you.
I have,as I indicated that I would, prayed for you and wish to forgive you, which I will, apology or not. Please,do the right thing.

Christ gave us the Catholic Church which is the Pillar and Foundation of Truth protected and guaranteed by the Holy Spirit. The idea of personal interpretation of Holy Scripture as you describe it is the invention of men as a direct result of the so-called reformation, only 500 years old NOT 2,000 years old. What you are referencing is Gnosticism or "secret kowledge"which is available only to the “elect”.This heresy was condemned long, long, ago.

I have answered you in anticipation of your apology.I have also forgiven you. Please,do the right thing.

**Apologize for pointing to the truth. The fact that you stated that Christ gave us the Catholic Church; I nor you can establish that from Scripture. Christ doesn’t give His bride away does He? The bride is the group if individual believers; based on your understanding of Scripture it is very obvious to the children of God that you are not in the family at this point of your life, but there is always the Savior you can come to as long as you are still breathing. So put away your old self and come to Jesus.

Isn’t the pillar of truth, the “c” church; the household of God. There is no secret mystery of God, but the “natural man” cannot understand them for they are foolishness to him. **

I feel sorry for you if you cannot see that the insult that you directed at me was unworthy and unChristlike. You have revealed more about yourself than you Know.
I have forgiven you,but until you aplogise like a man, never, ever address me again.

That is why you just put a report in to the administrator; you think to highly of yourself. If I get an infraction or banned for your crying; oh well. Hopefully the admins will admonish you for all the pleasantries that you have spewed. I love speaking about the the Word of God; I don’t know what you like to do or why you are here; but that is your business. But you have proven everything I have said by your actions.

Since all protestant denominations come from the Catholic Church, they aren’t necessarily “wrong”. Each has a piece of the Christian “pie” that they emphasize.

All were born out of various conflicts between the personal practices of faith, the church as an institutional entity and the influence of the state.

Some examples:
Lutheran= Salvation by grace alone.
Baptist=baptism (obviously), Bible
Pentacostal= Holy Spirit/Day of Pentecost, Spiritual gifts, Bible
Methodist=Bible, most pentecostal denominations are offshoots of the Methodist early 20th century “awakening”/revivals.

The Catholic Church, being the root or origin of the Christian faith; still holds “title” to the valid eucharist.

I hope that makes sense. I grew up protestant, and was pentecostal before I was Catholic.

Stay Catholic, enjoy the Pentecostal experience and use it to revive your Catholic faith.

FYI: Many pentecostal folk are former (or as they say"recovering" Catholics) and will try negatively influence you against the church.

They do have a point. Many (most) of my cradle catholic friends really don’t have a good handle on the bible or why they believe something, it is just rote.

I learned so much in the pentecostal church and at bible college.
I am able to apply my knowledge to the liturgy and it greatly enriches my experience.

The fact that you stated that Christ gave us the Catholic Church; I nor you can establish that from Scripture.
You are right. Jesus established the Church and made a full deposit of faith prior to one word of Scripture being written. The Church then produced the Scripture. That is why there is no conflict between the teaching of the Church, and scripture.
Code:
Christ doesn't give His bride away does He? The bride is the group if individual believers; based on your understanding of Scripture it is very obvious to the children of God that you are not in the family at this point of your life, but there is always the Savior you can come to as long as you are still breathing. it is inappropriate for you to make such a judgment, Seeking12. you are entitled to your opinion, of course, but in this case, it would be better if you kept it to yourself. The purpose of CAF is to discuss differences in theology, primarily toward unity. we are not here for you to measure our spiritual health, and find it wanting.

The Church Jesus founded is Catholic. All other ecclesial communities define themselves by how they are not Catholic.

I’m Catholic and plan to stay that way.

I think you are confusing me with the OP.

Is this on topic?
Why would you post something so far from the OP?
It demonstrates the power of the charismatic movement in Catholicism.

You can have the best of both worlds.

Charismatic worship in the Church founded by Christ!

I will be reporting this piece of bunk to the moderators.
